It's not every day that a big, world changing secret is shared with somepony. For Scootaloo, this is one of those days.
Her mom and dad reveal that they aren't her biological parents, they adopted her when she was a little foal. But they don't know who her birth parents are.
Not satisfied with the answers, Scootaloo (with the help of her foster parents) sets out to find the truth by embarking on a personal crusade. But will she like what she finds out about her birth parents?

Wonderful work on this one-shot story. Love the work that went into the characterizations, exchanges and general wrap-up in all the right places. Love how you worked elements of the official canon into your older headcanon in a way that makes this make sense for an AU. And, yeah, Scoots' birth parents giving her up because they led too dangerous lives actually DOES make sense for this universe.
I will certainly be looking forward to more of your work in general.

Also, I never understood why people gave up headcanons just because of a single canon. I mean, our stories are technically already in an alternative universe, our own headcanon

As for the family names, I agree, some ponies are hard, other are easy, like with Lyra, where Heartstrings sounds like her surname
