"What happened next? Well, nothing, really. The four of us killed all the remaining demons around the castle, headed back to Trixie's RV, and went back to Canterlot City to help out there. It took two whole months, but the city was eventually rebuilt. With the combined efforts of Seraph and the Order of Light, we drove out the remaining monsters with minimal civilian casualties. Starlight and her friends went back to Crystal City before long, back to the Order. Not sure what happened to them."
"As for me, I still had things to take care of. I gave my mission report to Seraph's Regional Director, who'd come to see me personally after the event. I may have left a few details fuzzy, but I was mostly open with her on the things I'd seen. The Siren labs, the location of the castle, and how evil exists among humans, and good can exist within demons. I personally know a handful of demons with goodness in their hearts, Sunset and friends are shining examples."
"Speaking of Sunset, her little business picked up quite a bit in the months following. She even brought on some of her friends to take jobs with her from time to time when the occasion arose. The only thing I missed was Celestia and Luna, I never saw them again. If they really are the Sisters of the Light and Darkness, the two that closed the gate to the demon realm, then Sunset and Twilight couldn't have done a better job following in their footsteps. It's just a shame that Twilight didn't make it back."
"Hmm? Yeah, maybe Sunset knows what happened to the sisters."
"She's still in Canterlot, running her shop. Want to know the name?"
-----
Ring, ring!
In a recently remodeled storefront in Canterlot's inner city area, a phone rang on the front desk.
Through a door to an apartment area in the back of the shop, Sunset Shimmer came through, wearing a new black top with a faded grey sun design on it, one she'd just received in the mail. As she took a seat in her chair, she struck her heel against the desk and popped the phone off the receiver and into her hand, a casual smile on her face as she gave a friendly response.
"Sun Never Sets," she said. "Owner speaking."
A voice greeted her on the other end, then reminded her that she had arranged a meeting with them.
"Oh yeah!" Sunset replied. "You're that artifact collector, right? The archeologist? Yeah, what time were you going to be by?"
Her shop had been considerably busier in the recent months, there were more demon hunting jobs coming in than she'd ever had in the past. With the extra money she was able to fix everything up and then some, she had several displays of various valuables, weapons and gear around the front of her shop. Before, she'd buy the occasional cursed sword from someone trying to get rid of it, to keep for display or safekeeping, but now she had something of a pawn shop. Her storefront had become a place for residents of the city to sell any demonic collectibles that might still linger, and she would even sell some of her pieces to upstart demon hunters, granted they prove they were strong enough to handle them first.
What wasn't for sale was the huge, ancient greatsword on the wall above her desk, easily the centerpiece of her collection. That was a special one, she told her customers, the sword of her mentor, and she was hanging onto it for her until she saw her again. Sunset's accomplishments were well known throughout Canterlot, but as time went on the celebration died down and life continued as usual.
"One o' clock? Well..." Sunset paused, pulling out her cell phone from a pocket and checking the time. Not only was that a half hour from now, but she saw a new text message on her phone, from Rarity.
Hey, we're all at the cafe on Rosemary, you want to come have lunch with us?
"I'm actually gonna be out for lunch at one, how about two? I'll be back by then. Sure. Sounds great."
Sunset hung up the blocky digital phone and gave Rarity a confirmation on her cell phone. Standing up, she reached into a pocket and pulled out a lollipop, unwrapping it and popping it into her mouth as she made her way to the door. She put on a new yellow leather coat, this one much nicer, recently made for her by Rarity after her old one was torn and cut up, and opened the door to a cool yet sunny day.
Locking up her shop, Sunset headed to the black and chrome motorcycle she kept parked on the curb. As she got on, prepared to meet up with her friends, she looked back and smiled at the newest addition to the store's exterior. She didn't know what she was doing before she got it, but now, it was her favorite thing about the place. Hung proudly above the shop's front door, shining like a crown jewel was a wide, bright neon sign, depicting elegant, crimson curved letters that simply read:
Sun Never Sets
[GAME NOTICE]
'Luna' is now playable!
'Sunset Must Suffer' difficulty is now selectable!
New costumes are now equipable!
'Infinite Ammo' is now selectable for Flash!
So what happened to the sisters exactly?
10630371
They peaced out
10630376
And the Sirens? There is no mention of them, including Aria and Sonata, after Flash crossed through the portal.
10630376
So they're either dead or they left?
10630752
They just vanished, yeah. Nobody saw what happened to them.
10630654
Same deal with the sisters, nobody saw what happened to them. As far as Flash is concerned they all got blown up right after he was thrown through the portal.
10630797
Good story
10630797
Wonder if everyone gets reunited later on.
10630852
If I ever come back to this story, it'll probably be something that I cover. Till then, they're MIA.
10630866
I'll be waitin' for it.
nice work on the story
Discord: Yeah I can wait a bit more, have fun Sunset!
So what did Discord got out from.this?
He got free.
He is still free.
No rainbow blast to the face.
So yeah, smart guy.
10631204
Well yes, he played his part, stayed out of the way, and didn't cause too much trouble. He's not completely home free, still has to shake the phoenix, but he's clever, I'm sure he'll manage something.
Or maybe not. Twilight did beat him and his pals up pretty good, and the other two might not stick around to help him if Discord gets in a pinch. Then again, he could just as easily bail on them, but if he can't get a link back to the demon world he's going to have to lay low for a while if he wants to try anything.

Thanks for reading along for all this time, you were one of the first to comment on this story. I'm glad you enjoyed!
Any plans for a sequel?
10631356
Not at the moment, no.
You have managed to give me the same feeling i get whenever i finish a playthrough of a DMC game.
And that's that. Was a pleasure reading this story.
10631561
Yet it's not a "never" as you stated earlier on.
If I wasn't already Following, I would be now for that potential sequel.
And honestly, you've left a few hooks.
Twilight vanishing after the final battle instead of dying, the ambiguity as to whether Celestia and Luna died from having their powers taken by Adagio, Discord still being on the loose and not yet reformed, and of course the big one.
Sunset meeting Daring Do for a potential mission.
10631983
Oh, it wasn't meant to be a "never", just a "not right now". Im not opposed to writing a sequel, I just dont know where I'd take one atm. Haven't done the necessary planning. I did leave the door open, but I don't know what I'll be writing next. Could be another SNS story but it might also be something new.
10631266
Well the fact that demons attacks are more frequent means that door might be closed but the barrier between worlds got weaker.
And my guess is that Discord bailed out from the other two and used the time the portal was open to do "something".
10631772
Glad to have you along for the ride. :)
10632581
I'm seriously impressed with how you managed to throw in elements from so many different franchises within the framework of both MLP and DMC3 without it feeling mismatched and have it still feel unique.
10632592
Once I had the baseline down, it felt like it wrote itself tbh. Or maybe it's a specialty of mine, I suppose. I seem to be good at deconstructing my favorite things and putting them together as a single thing like they're lego sets. For this one, I hadn't seen a DMC crossover done this way, that was my drive to make it so unique.
If you liked it, these kinds of niche crossovers are mainly what I want to write here, even if my next project isn't another SNS.
10632705
I shall give you a follow, then. Honestly this story (and a friend of mine playing through 3 for the first time) has made me kind of...nostalgic for DMC. Might pick up the HD collection. Curious to see what you have in store for the future as well.
10632705
How would even a Kirby crossover work, then? Either 4 crystal shards (Kirby 64) or Star Allies have several playable characters.
10632962
Kirby? Hm. To be honest, I'm not that deep into the Kirby games, but if I were to try, I'd start by just playing through one of the games, looking at the characters and story, and seeing if there's any points I can make it overlap with something from MLP. (Or anything else I think would work with the crossover) It'd take someone with more Kirby knowledge than I to talk specifics though, but I believe any crossover can be accomplished in this style with enough planning.
10632992
Kirby Adventure, Kirby Adventure 2 (Gameboy), Kirby Super Star/Ultra, Kirby 64, Kirby: Planet Robobot
and Kirby Star Allies are the games you want if you are looking for story and characters.

welcome to Rainbow Dash land, where everything is awesome.
Great story. Really enjoyed it. Darn that rain....

Thanks for giving it a read, and I’m glad you liked it!
If I had written this story, I would give it this name:
Pony May Cry 3:
Sunset Shimmer's Awakening
What do you think of the idea?
11277030
I think the title is pretty limited in scope, since it's just a reskin of DMC3's title. Kinda misleading, really, since it'd make you assume that this was just going to be based solely on Devil May Cry 3, when in reality we touch heavily on Devil May Cry V, several Resident Evil and Metal Gear titles, and Bayonetta in this story as well. "Pony May Cry" also specifically suggests, well, ponies. Of which there are very, very few in this fic, since it takes place in a world where most of the characters are humanoids. Also, calling it Pony May Cry 3 would suggest there's 2 other stories before it? Which, unless you have a Pony May Cry 1 and 2, would also be misleading. The subtitle, "Sunset Shimmer's Awakening" doesn't make a lot of sense here either, since Sunset doesn't have either the metaphorical or literal kind of awakenings that Dante has in his game.
"Sun Never Sets" was chosen because it ties into the main character's name, has the same number of syllables and a similar cadence to "Devil May Cry", and is a reasonable in-universe name for her business, being a phrase that symbolizes vigilance. "Pony May Cry" really only has the same syllables and cadence, while lacking the symbolism or connection to her character.
Put shortly, I feel like that title would be inadequate for this story. A title like that sounds more like it'd better for a retread of only Devil May Cry 3 with the relevant characters swapped out, which was the exact premise of a story you tried to write last year with that same title. If you really wanted to take another shot at writing that story you could, so long as you don't copy-paste anything from my story into it this time.
