Chapter 12: All Aboard the Friendship Express!

I couldn't believe it. I was actually going to visit the princesses of the sun and moon! And with my friends too! Another awesome adventure had begun! I walked with pep in my step as Meloetta played a happy tune on her Poke Flute, as I heard Pummel Fist, also known as Pummeler, call it.

When we made it to the train station, Twilight said, "We'd like twelve tickets to Canterlot, please. My friends and I are escorting these--wait, where's Rocky and Fluttershy?"

*bowling ball hitting pins noise* A curling stone rammed into me, causing me to land on my face and the stone to turn into Rocky, who also fell on his face.

Fluttershy quickly caught up. "I'm so sorry about that. Rocky wanted me to help him catch up by blowing wind on him, but he went really fast."

"That was his Curling Friend Ability," Roborygon explained. "When a friend adds wind, water, or ice to a rock partner, it turns into a curling stone that defeats all enemies it makes contact with. To be precise, he used Clean Curling, which is the fastest type of Curling."

Before Twilight paid the conductor (or whoever accepts the money), I picked up a shiny object that fell out of Rocky's helmet. I knew what it was, so I gave it to the conductor instead. "Where'd you get that gem, Rocky?" asked Twilight.

Rarity took a close look at the gem. "This gem appears freshly excavated. Rocky must have found it at the mine."

Rocky closed his eyes with joy, anime-style.

The conductor gave us each a ticket. "All aboard!"

My friends and I sat in one pair of seats facing each other while the Mane 6 and Spike sat on the pair on the other side. So, this was what it was like to ride the Friendship Express...

Spike turned to me. "I remember that Roborygon said you've encountered various songs, and Meloetta played a song that you seemed to really like. We kept singing about a Friend Train. What was that about?"

Pinkie Pie chimed in, "Ooh, maybe it was because you and a bunch of your friends from another dimension formed a line and became a living train to defeat an evil winged jester who countered with a giant mouth laser, but you guys won anyway! Oh, and maybe he made one of your friends faint with his awful death scream."

Roborygon made his eyes smile like Rocky did. "That's Pinkie Pie for you, always making absurd guesses that are completely correct. She's right to the very last word, sadly. Here's the context of the song: Every once in a while, Kirby comes upon a pedestal called a Friend Platform. When he and three of his friends are on one, they can perform a Friend Action that involves teamwork. One such action is the Friend Train, where they line up and the one at the front dons a conductor's cap with a smokestack on the top. A humorous hat, if you ask me. Anyway, the first time the song was sung was when Kirby and his friends from another dimension fought a horrific creature known as Marx Soul. They used the Friend Train to counter his massive laser beam, but they struggled, even with Mario's Fire Tickle boosting their speed and therefore their force. Pummel Fist, the one who brought these heroes together and fought alongside them, sang the song as a last resort, hoping it would help restore Meloetta's strength so she would assist them. However, it was the song itself that gave them the strength to power through the laser and slam into Marx Soul, ending his maniacal plans for good. Fluttershy, you would faint if you had witnessed his utterly dreadful death. That fate occurred to Mario's green-clothed brother Luigi." I shuddered when he mentioned that, as did Fluttershy. Poor Luigi...

"Aw man, I wish I would have been there..." Rainbow Dash whined.

"No, you really don't. Don't make me make the sound Marx Soul made when he was finished off."

"Nothing scares me! I dare you to do it!"

Gim smacked Rainbow with his fire yo-yo. "Seriously, bro, I heard it all the way from my home on Planet Misteen! You would not want to hear it, even if you really are brave."

"Why should I believe a metal yo-yo thrower?"

I put on my sword cap and pointed my water sword at Rainbow.

"Right, you beat him. Good point."

Applejack asked, "Sorry to interrupt, but might there be any apple trees where y'all come from, Kirby?"

Roborygon did the eye-smile thing again. "You have no idea. If you ever come to Planet Pop Star, be sure to visit Whispy Woods, the guardian of the apple trees."

"Does that mean he's an apple tree, too? I'd say that's kinda weird, but we've met Discord, so..." Applejack shrugged.

"The draconequus that used to be bad but now is reformed thanks to Fluttershy? He'd love to come over to Pop Star and possibly the planets near it. There are living spiky balls, orange walking things that shoot beams from their single eye, and walking microphones that attack by singing."

"Ooh, I'm liking where this is going." A super strange creature came in through a black door that disappeared moments later. "Please, tell me more!"

"I would, Discord, but in order to tell you every weird thing about Pop Star and the surrounding planets, I'd have to make up numbers to count them all."

"I can help. What about googolplexillion? That's the number one followed by three googolplex zeroes."

"No, but I appreciate your offer."

"We have reached Canterlot."

We made it. Canterlot Castle, here we come!

Like the name I gave myself, Pummel Fist? My in-universe nickname is Pummeler. It reflects my being turned into a Machop by Archie and Maxie, former villains from the third generation of Pokemon.
