Your prose is extremely telly. It’s certainly distracting at best, and breaks up the pace of your fic at worst. Things don’t really flow very well here, and it’s less than 3000 words long. I’m usually more forgiving on show don’t tell, but it’s very distracting here. Try harder. Do better.
