Misanthropian

Angry monster in the wire.

E

There comes a point where any species intelligent enough to create advanced computers must ask a question.

Can a machine be alive? Can an algorithm feel, or think? Where is the line between simple processes running with a fixed purpose, and a concious mind, making decisions and forming opinions?

Has Equestria's time to decide come?

The pace is a bit on the fast side but I like it.

The chapters could also be longer, maybe by fleshing out individual scenes a bit.

All in all, I will look forward to the next chapter.

If the main OCs in this story were voiced, what would they sound like?

I'm not going to get in to all the legal shenanigans a sufficiently motivated pony could undertake to make ERoCo miserable, but...
Well, with the public outcry some pony could use this as cause to sue for Alphie to be considered a person. For example, Lyra could sue for custody of Alphie, and get an injunction preventing them from deleting her. That would necessitate answering the legal question of the standing of Alphie.
ERoCo does NOT want this question to be asked at all, and would most likely attempt to settle the suit as soon as they had been served the paperwork.
They have access to Alphie's memories, including the last moments of her life, and they would have to make all of that available to the defense. Meaning that the defense can use her surrendering to the police to establish that not only is she a person, but also a good person. That would NOT go well in a jury trial.

The figure looked. "It's a machine. It doesn't get 'freaked out', it doesn't get happy, it doesn't get sad, it-"

"-It just runs programs. Yeah, yeah, I know." Lyra continued to look. She hesitated before letting out a whistle.

Oh, I see what we’re doing now. Are you sure the robot wasn’t named Alpha One Five ?

The storytelling here is good, but there are so many spelling and grammar errors - the bugs of the English programming language - that it is a major distraction

Solid story, marred by the lack of editing to take care of obvious spelling/grammar problems.
