Dear Cozy Glow,
this is Sweetie Belle, Apple Bloom and Scootaloo. Princess Twilight asked us to write you, so here's a letter from us. But don't get any wrong ideas, because all three of us are still disappointed of you, Cozy. What you did really wasn't nice. And I'm not talking about draining all magic from Equestria or working together with Tirek. I'm talking about how you used us for your plan. You never wanted us as friends, just as puppets.
What Sweetie Belle said! How could ya dare ta abuse us like this! Ya already got us banned from Twilight's school once, ah guess that wasn't enough, huh? Ya were only satisfied after ya...
Scootaloo says ah should calm down. But ya deserve gettin' talked ta like this! Whatever did ya think?! We cared for ya when ya sat cryin' at our clubhouse! Was this all just an act, too?! Ya planned all of this right from the beginnin', didn't ya?! It was all lies, the entire time! And now ya sittin' in a rotten, stinkin' prison under the ground! Ya know, what? Ahm hopin' that ya'll never get
Hey, it's me, Scootaloo, taking over. Apple Bloom got a little carried away there. But, Cozy, she is still right. You betrayed us. We all thought you are our friend, not a crazy supervillain who just saw us as instruments. I really liked you, Cozy. You had some cool ideas and hanging out with you was always fun! It sucks to think that nothing of this was honest. Why did you do this to us? Was all this really to try and conquer Equestria?
Sweetie Belle wants to take over again. But I want an answer from you one day.
That sums it up, Cozy. Scoots and Apple Bloom said what I couldn't say, but we all feel the same way. We are hurt, disappointed and sad. And we talked about what you did for a long time and we all agreed that we don't want to be your friends anymore, not even if you are ever allowed to leave Tartarus again.
But... Princess Twilight said that she has hope for you. She says you can learn. And she asked us to help you. Apple Bloom, Scootaloo and I trust Twilight, so we agreed. But we are doing this for her, Cozy. We won't forgive you right away. If Twilight is right and you aren't a completely lost cause, then you need to work for your forgiveness.
We are here if you want to send us any letters. And we will write you some more. But don't mess it up. We will only give you one chance, Cozy.
Apple Bloom ..Scootaloo ..Sweetie Belle
“So, that's how it is, huh?” Cozy Glow snarled as she had finished the Crusaders' letter, eyes still fixated on it. “But what about you then? Didn't you betray me, too? You tried to stop my plan, even though you claimed to be MY friends! Isn't friendship mutual in Ponyville?”
The grip of her hooves becoming tighter, she caused wrinkles to appear on the paper. “If I am a traitor, you are traitors, too.”
Having said that, Cozy shoved the letter to the side. With empty eyes, she stared blankly into the darkness outside of her cage.
Short but good, as always, the reactions of the CMC are reasonable. If it hadn't been for Cozy's plan/Dark side, I think she and the CMC would have been the best of friends.
Pigheaded as ever.
Ooh! This letter is one that I forgot would be coming.
I liked the way all three wrote the letter without any edits. They just kept taking turns until the job was done so the letter could be sent.
Another good touch is how you can tell the feelings of anger, disappointment, betrayal, etc. are present in all three but in different amounts.
I think Sweetie Belle is just sad and disappointed. She comes off as 'going along' with her friends, as she tends to do. I'd see her trying to really give Cozy some help if a meeting was secretly between the two of them.
Scootaloo is the most 'balanced' of the trio. She just wants to forget about all that happened as it brought her a lot of hurt and other feelings. Feeling used is also not a good one for Scoots as she tends to have the greatest empathy for ponies with special needs. Her situation with her wings could make her this way due to trying to, naturally, remind herself that no pony is perfect and how a pony must learn to be the best they can be in their own skin. However Cozy crushed Scoots by making her doubt her ability to show empathy to those who may not be like other ponies. She'll likely be more guarded in the future because of this.
Apple Bloom is, well, downright furious. However she is also instilled with a massive degree of morals and ethics from her family. Cozy's actions go against everything Apple Bloom was raised on and there's no way Cozy would easily ever, if at all, redeem herself. The crime is committed and the 'dark mark' has been left. This emotional scar will haunt Apple Bloom and, likely, be a key point of discussion if a similar situation is ever brought before her.
As for Cozy, her state of feeling is very 'projective'. She has no ability, whether by condition or how she was raised, to see beyond herself. She sees all her faults as being the faults of those around her. It could never be 'her' who made things bad as she has never been able to fully embrace 'accountability' nor the ability to properly show true empathy for another creature.
The end is another glimps into her inner-workings. Perhaps Trixie's letter and the CMC letter are getting her to think a tad bit more about how she got into this situation? It may be a tiny flicker of a flame but it is a start.
We all respond to different stimuli. Some need more coddling than others. Cozy, for the most part, seems to respond more to 'tough love'. This is perhaps because everything was made to appear 'so easy' at Twilight's school? Everything was supposed to have simple resolutions with friendship being the core source of achievement.
Cozy doesn't need 'friendship' as much as she needs someone who can understand her at her level without coming off condescendingly. She needs a counselor who can guide her into knowing how to manage her feelings.
This makes me think of a commercial I once heard. It went something like, "...She had 400 friends. However, when she really needed one, nobody was there...".
This is why I often worry about today's online communities. So many get caught up in 'Watchers', 'Followers', etc. that they forget to remember that the number isn't as important as being able to genuinely get close to someone else.
I have over a hundred watchers in other places but may only genuinely talk with a dozen. Of these only a handful I speak with regularly.
So, for Cozy, she needs more than someone to say, "Let's be friends!". She needs someone who will be in close touch with her and give her a feeling of genuine investment while reminding her it is not the number of friends you have but the quality of friends that matters.

I think so, too. I loved how they became friends with her and was really happy for Cozy. And I looked forward to seeing more times between them and Cozy, so it's a little crushing to see that Cozy wasn't completely honest with their friendship. But things can still get fixed.

Indeed. Hope dies last

I knew you would be interested in that one a lot, after I read your response to Trixie's letter. Not everyone will attempt to soothe and comfort Cozy to get her to open up.
That is not exactly how it happened. They actually talked about the letter and how to approach it and came to the conclusion that, while they should avoid to vilify Cozy, they shouldn't be too easy on her either and that it will be good for her if they openly show her how they feel.
I ran an entire scene like this through my head before starting to write, to figure out how they will go about writing the letter. I just didn't include it, because the focus here are the letters and Cozy's reactions on them.
I'm really happy you caught that! I feel a bit insecure about my writing lately, so I'm glad it came out.
All three of them want to help Cozy. Bedgrudgingly so, and it's currently more out of trust in Twilight than trust in Cozy, but they have decided to give Cozy a chance.
For Sweetie Belle, she is the cool and rational one of the group. The show has strongly implied numerous times that Sweetie Belle is the oldest of them, because she often acted the most reasonable and mature of all of them. So letting her express her disappointment just as openly as Scoots and Applebloom, but in a more calm and laid back fashion and not so "In your face" like Scoots did or so furiously like Applebloom did, was the right approach here.
Does she? I think you underestimate Scoots a little here. She is strong. And she has more confidence in herself now than she had a few years ago. There is a big difference between the filly we've observed in "Flight to the Finish" and the one we've observed in "The Washouts".
But we'll see what happens. They aren't done with Cozy and neither is Cozy done with them.
Applebloom has learned that family sticks together. And real friends are like family. She will have it the hardest with forgiving Cozy. And Cozy will have the hardest time with receiving forgiveness by her. If Applebloom will ever be able to forgive her at all.
A remarkable reaction from Cozy is that she DID feel genuinely sorry for having gotten Applebloom, Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle banned from the school grounds by making it look like they taught her the wrong things to enact revenge on Twilight for not accepting them as students.
This might be important in the future.

I would submit that Apple Bloom is the balanced one (Ego), with Scootaloo sitting solidly at the Id end of the spectrum and Sweetie Belle firmly at the Superego end.
