(Inspired by Hurt, specifically the meaning that goes through your mind when listening to the Johnny Cash version. Also inspired in part by Remembrance)

The Johnny Cash version of what? Also, what's Remembrance?

Hurt by Nine Inch Nails is a song about a drug addict who eventually kills himself because he has no reason to live.

Hurt by Johnny Cash is a cover, worth pointing out is the fact that at the time of Hurt’s recording, Johnny Cash was an 80+ year old Christian, and dying just a few years later. This completely changes the song to a regretful look back at life and how no one he knows has survived as long as he has. The song is an acoustic song, and one of Johnny Cash’s most famous ones. It’s gotten to the point where people start attributing the cover as the original.
It helps that upon Nine Inch Nails, real name Trent Reznor, watching the video, he stated that Hurt wasn’t his song anymore.

Remembrance is an audio drama spearheaded by Ashley H., a pegasister singer and songwriter, which has a similar premise to this story. Twilight Sparkle’s friends are gone, she feels like she has a duty to remember them, and it goes downhill from there. The thing that separates Rememberance from this is the fact that there’s two entirely different takes on how she handled the deaths of her friends.
