I'm a Proud ABDL mommy. Writer of padded pony fics, a lot of fics about Shining Armor and his mom, several about Rainbow Dash and her family, and far more mom stories than you can imagine.

Ponies tend to rush to judgement when concerning royalty, particularly Prince Blueblood, known for his snobbish behavior. What they forget, is that he is somepony's baby too.

A character study of Prince Blueblood through his mother's eyes.

Inspired by the song "Somebody's Baby" by Joe Foreman.

He is somepony’s baby. He is my baby. And I will always be proud of him and love him, no matter what.

Heart-rending.

I never really believed Blueblood was a monster - not really. He gets a lot of hate, but really, I always thought there was a burden he bore. And who we are in our private lives is usually vastly different than how others see us. Masks indeed.

Such a sad premise too. Reminds me a lot of the Christmas Carol and how Scrooge became angry and embittered by Fran's death because of his nephew. But whereas Fred was able to escape that trap and be a positive person, Blueblood won't, because of societal obligations and who he is. And that's what makes this tragic all around.

Excellent story. Bravo.

Thank you so much! That really means a lot to me!

Two of my favorite headcanons for Blueblood are the pretending to be what he is to manipulate people in a beneficial way that help his "Auntie" out in the background. Your exact heart-rending, broken, mask wearing colt that you described. Always hated the idea of him being a jerk just to be a jerk, your story makes a very believable and refreshing picture of his character.

Thank you. That really means a lot to me. I think that characters like Blueblood are not just born the way they are. They are forged in a crucible of hard circumstances and rash judgement. I think it’s all about perspective. I tried to give a different one here for him. Thank you.

Well you did wonderfully, as a mother it struck the right cord for me.

Thank you so much. Really. Words can't describe how much I appreciate that.

I've actually read a similar character study fic of BB, but with an ABDL twist, with Celestia babying him to destress

I love that fic! Blue Baby by The Conflicted Writer is one of my favorites, and inspired one of my own with Blueblood as an ABDL. Definitely not as well liked, but I enjoyed it.

Yeah, nature vs nurture has always been interesting. I mean, look at, say, Fenrir from Norse myth. As one of Loki's kids, he was feared, even though all he wanted was acceptance among the Aesir

9527451
It always is interesting. I firmly believe that nurture trumps nature in every circumstance. That's why I write it constantly that way.

9527453
True, I mean, while how someone is born might affect who they are, its how they're raised that truley matters, as well, most people gain, say, their sense of morality from whoever or whatever raises them

9527456
Amen. That's why I write so many ABDL fics, because sometimes being re-raised can help, or being given the childhood you didn't have can help everything. It's a huge part of my philosophy as an ABDL Mommy myself.

Welp. That’s sad, and unfortunately believable.

I loved this.

A nice fic.

I really don’t know what else to say, I understood the spectator angel thing about halfway through and loved it...

Unfortunately, all that’s going through my head is ‘Spirit in the Sky’, having a musically centered mind is not great all of the time.

However, I never look into backstories like this, I realized how much I loved it when reading this. Perhaps a Freudian Excuse (or lack thereof in this case) could use some expanding, and that’s never a bad idea. So yeah, really enjoyed it.

Very effective and moving. I always enjoy fics that delve more into characters like Blueblood and give them more depth than just "mean for the sake of it". Even if the reasons why can (and often are) sad.
