After the events of "Secret of My Excess", Spike realizes how much of a danger he really is as a dragon and fears that what he became is what he will eventually become. Not wishing to cause harm to his friends he decides to runaway and leave Ponyville forever....

Great concept, though with just a little bit of polishing this could have easily been a 4.5-5. I gave it a 4, because there were a few missing/wrong words and a couple grammar slip ups but other than that, this was good! Spikes feelings were natural, as was Twilights reaction to them. All in all, good work!

A necessary story. Forgiveness is given with what seems like too much ease in the show, and I don't think Spike helping the clean-up crew will be sufficient for most of the ponies of Ponyville..

It would be interesting to see a sequel to this, showing his development (or not) into a monster. I think it would work well as a series of chapters spread wide across his life, rather than one continuous story. How he controls himself, Twilight, Rarity. Personally I'd like to see him marry Rarity and go crazy monster, her being the queen of his horde.

I had to instantly favorite this, because Spike if my favorite background character. Also, I love the comfort and love that Twilight shows him in this. Believing in him that he can control his greed and is not the monster that wrecked Ponyville. Gave me chills, but filled me with happiness.

Cute story, Rated. Coming to term with one's own weakness is part of growing up. But I'm afraid I'm gonna have to admit to you and to myself; my opinions of this fiction is the same as the actual episode. The premise isn't anything unique, and the characters are stuck on autopilot. This doesn't mean it's bad. It's an inevitable opinion that will stick who knows how long.

Not bad. Personally, I think it could have made for a stronger story if Spike had, deep down, ENJOYED being a monster, enjoyed crawling upon all fours, roaring instead of speaking, taking what he wanted, being free to act on instinct instead of thinking about everything. Dealing with that would be something few people have tried before.

Yeah not really that sad but still a nice little story. Can picture Spike being a wreck after doing what he did but hey man look on the bright side. If another Dragon comes along and tries to attack Ponyville your instincts should kick in, you'll grow and then you'll kick his/her scales right out of town. So don't be so hard on yourself and appreciate the fact you have the potential to be the biggest badass with a heart of gold in Ponyville.
