CrackedInkWell

"Inspiration does not come to the lazy. It only comes to those who call it." - P. I. Tchaikovsky

Warning: The following story you are about to read is currently unedited and deals with M/M shipping. If you do mind one or both of these things, you know where the exit button is.

A day after the events of "Hearth's Warming Club," Sandbar finds out another reason why his griffon friend does not want to return to Griffonstone. In the eyes of the griffons, Gallus isn't considered a legal adult as he has no one to perform a coming of age ceremony. One that would give the young griffon self-guardianship and freedom of choice to leave the country to move to Equestria. However, since he could not be adopted without the consent of a living relative, Gallus is stuck in a perpetual legal and cultural limbo.

That was until Sandbar thought up of a loophole. If his friend is unable to be free by adoption, then perhaps the only way to do so, is to marry him. At least, temporarily.

P.S. A special thank you to the writer of this site who has guided me throughout this story who wishes to remain anonymous.

This ship is REALLY getting overused, there I said it and I don't care who disagrees. Sorry that its at the expense of your story Crackedinkwell but I had to let it out.

Uh oh, I'm sensing hi-jinks. It would be a shame if something... silly happened.

I love it! Great start to a story. Can't wait for more!

To the author - I just saw this in my feed & new stories section:)
all i'm going to ask is the story going to be short like 'Air Marshall' was or a multi-chapter fic?

My goal for this thing is to make it under 15 or 20 chapters.

There's no way this can end badly.

Have you considered the reason folks might disagree with this statement? It is, first, not at all constructive to the author, and is, second, somewhat irrelevant. Many ships are done over and over in different ways; just look at groups like Twidash, Twilestia, Appledash, and so on. When the fandom was first getting its legs under it, there were numerous protests of 'stop making the characters gay', and so on, which both smacked of homophobia and lacked any substance as commentary.

Now that there are enough male center-stage characters in the show that folks are shipping them together, these kinds of comments are resurfacing, and even more innocuous comments like yours are going to be seen in the same vein; protesting this ship because it involves two male characters. I don't know you, so perhaps you dislike all ships that become oversaturated to a certain extent, but there is certainly a perception that people are much faster to call this ship 'overdone' and 'old' because people have a lower tolerance for male/male shipping. Just worth bearing in mind.

Also the fact it comes from someone with "Texas" in their name kinda lends to that feeling.

9491927
I won't argue about it the ship being overused cause I think this is the first time I've added of this ship. Though from the idea in my head this ship would be as romantic as jd and Turk from scrubs. May seem like a gay ship but it is just platonic guy love. *Insert guy love song from scrubs*

I just gotta say, Gallus should be really lucky he has friends who are willing to go to those kinds of lengths for him.

There are a total of 18 stories on this site with this ship in it. If that's your definition of overused, then pretty much every ship in the fandom is overused.

Ri2

Griffonstone really bites.

All the M/M shipping!

I know I really prefer mature rated stories(because sex and because relationships are explored a little deeper) but I will settle for teen if I get to see gallus and sandbar get married...such cuties

9492197
okay! that's all i wanted to know about. can't wait to read more:raritywink:

Well! Liked and followed. I'm curious what sort of shennanigans they'll get up to as they try and get married. :trollestia:

Sandbar needs like the ‘Best Bro of The Year Award’ for doing this.

Man, I'm sooooo glad I'm not the only one who had the headcanon that Yaks were progressive. Part of me wants to think that Yona is actually the smartest of the six, but it doesn't show due to her clumsiness and accent.

As for the plan itself, I want to think that Sandbar's parents would understand after learning all the details. They seem like a well-adjusted family, and they apparently don't mind their son being friends with so many different species. If anything, they might be impressed that he came up with a plan so concisely.

Oh god, I can't wait to hear his father and mother listen to this.

I am reminded of an episode of Drawn Together, actually. Where Spanky tries to get 'gay-married' to Xander for the health insurance. ... Good times. This is also shaping up to be fun!

aw man I hope sandbar changes his mind about the divorce... because gallbar is one of my favorite ships ever and I dont want the first fic to get them married to have their relationship go down in flames... I mean the story "involuntary voyeur" had the two propose to each other in traditional gryphon courtship so I assume the sequel to that one will involve marriage

The shennanigans begins! Starting with: a milkshake. Sandbar accidentally went on a date with gallus!

Well, I'm really happy that Sandbar's parents are so on-board with his plan. I'm a little surprised that Sandbar hasn't seen his family in such a long time, since I thought that they lived in Ponyville. Would he even have to live in dorms if his house is a short distance away from the school?

Also, I'm glad that he's seeking Twilight to officiate the Ceremony. I mean, if this story is set in the same universe as Brushed Away, then she would have experience marrying stallions with gryphons before. ;)

Sandbar usurer them

I think you meant ushered.

I know I said this before but PLEASE let Sandbar change his mind about the divorce part of his plan... because something tells me Gallus will be so grateful that he might want to stay with sandbar permanently... I just dont like seeing my favorite shipping falling apart

Just remember, this is only the beginning. There's still a good amount of things to do with these two before it can conclude.

I'm so happy and excited that this is going so well for every creature. Now... if Sandbar will just realize the depth of his feelings for Gallus...

You can’t stay away from gay pony/griffon stories for long, can you ;P

9501601
Hey, I helped create it on this site! You can't blame me for wanting to see others doing the same.

9501627
Haha, of course not. The genre is definitely lacking now that Brushed Away is over!

“Ah, good thinking!” He chuckled. “But… yeah… I won’t lie to ya dude, to have you actually do this for me… It’s amazing. You should earn a medal for this.”

Sandbar chuckled. “Yeah, like a ‘ Best Bro of the Year .’”

Hmm that’s such a good idea... Inwonder where that idea came from.:yay:

“Well to make a very long and complicated story short,” she replied, “this technically wouldn’t be my first time to not only officiate a couple that are both males but one that happens to be both a pony and a griffon too. However, the only difference would be your unique circumstance.”

Waitwaitwaitwaitwait!” Gallus waved his arms. “You mean that this type of thing has already happened before?”

“If you’re referring to a stallion and a male griffon getting married, then yes. In fact, they’re still together and their house is here in Ponyville.”

This is a really good story so far!! I especially like how you've taken a while to establish Sandbar and Gallus's feelings for each other, considering that the plot of the story is about marriage. It even seems like they're confused about their feelings at this point of the story. The idea that Sandbar is marrying Gallus, even if it's just to free him from Griffonstone, already sounds like a very romantic thing to do, so the fact that Sandbar isn't too aware of this is an excellent idea~ I also love the way you've written for Sandbar's parents!

My first thought was also Troy and Canvas.

I wonder if getting to know this mystery gay couple will somehow change sandbars mind about the whole temporary thing... And just WHO are the mysterious pony and gryphon? Also i wonder if. Gallus or sandbar know about the shit ton of paperwork that comes with divorce... I still hope and pray that they change their mind and stay together

There were only a few tables to spare and the bar area where the chiefs cook in the open were full. .

Chefs.

The place shall be in the at the Castle of the Two Sisters (something that the colts were insisted on).

Insistent

“If you’re referring to a stallion and a male griffon getting married, then yes. In fact, they’re still together and their house is here in Ponyville.”

Troy and Canvas?

Absolutely adorable, I missed reading about these two, and their interactions.

I gotta say, this chapter was written really well. Nothing about Troy or Canvas felt off, which is pretty impressive considering you admitted you never read the original stories. I'm already looking forward to seeing what happens next, and I'm hopeful Gallus and Sandbar's relationship won't grow too awkward by the time spring arrives.

I feel like they're a bit too articulate and precocious for minors? I haven't seen the latest season so maybe that's in character.

9515137
Thank you kindly, sir. I was holding my breath to hopefully capture the characters you've made. With that being said, I have a feeling that these two will still play an important role in where this story goes.

oh lord... here we go with a lot of explaining... I see sandbar is finally sensing the power of shipping and having second thoughts about divorce! next chapter ought to be interesting given that twilight and the two adorable spouses-to-be are explaining their arrangement to the couple here

Okay I just gotta say, you are absolutely nailing Troy and Canvas' personalities with how they're conversing with Gallus and Sandbar. I mean, I know I gave you some pointers and all, but this is really impressive characterization and plot-development. Both of their individual scenes felt completely natural, and it was a great look into what Gallus and Sandbar might be feeling for one-another respectively. I have no idea where the story will go from here, but I'm very grateful I followed this fic so I can find out ASAP~

“I can see why.” Canvas said, “I mean, doing this to free an orphan out of a caste system… It almost sounds something out of a romantic novel.”

The older griffon shrugged. “I dunno, I can easily see this as a musical. That, or an opera.”

“Let me guess, you wanna take up the starring role?” His husband smirked.

“Of course not!” Troy laughed, “I’d look terrible being died blue. Eh, no offense.”

I would pay to see this.

lets just hope the bowling helps the two spouses-to-be bond and put them on the road to being lovers... gallbar is best ship... I wont let it sink no matter how much flex tape I need

Don't worry. The story isn't over until I say it's over.
