Well judging from my research the Light energy purges Nether energy so what happened is the enrgies that would have usually sent him back to Twister Nether alive were destroyed by the Light Twilight shoved into him with her strike.

In Canterlot yes but that is more as a support for leadership. Basically Flutters' hive is helping making sure the kingdom of food is running smoothly so they don't run out of food thus having a large portion of the capital's popultaion being changeling makes sense.

This story is full of randomness. We have Twilight as mate to the Lich King and now Fluttershy as a changeling queen. What's next? Rarity the Vampony Queen? Some part of me may want to see some invading dragons converted into bone dragons to serve Equestria.
