Chapter Five: Honest Apple

As the two were walking down a cobblestone road in Canterlot going pass fancy homes and well-dressed stallions and mares. Applejack looked down at the ground with an unsure expression on her face. She was both angry after The two friend were now walking down a cobblestone road Applejack looked down at the ground with a doubtful expression on her face. She was both mad after Rarity explained how she “accidentally turned her into another mare,” But at the same time the earth pony mare was quite astonished she lived a double life and was quite successful as a restaurant critic. Applejack still looking quite angry finally looked up at her friend and shouted in anger. “So you turned me into some fancy prancy mare! Seriously!”

Rarity gulped as she bent down on the cobblestones and pleaded, “I'm sorry darling! It was just supposed to be for one evening as a silly prank! I swear I didn’t intend this to happen!”

Applejack was still furious as she continued to shout and stomped down a hood down on the stone below. “Seriously! I should buck you right now and drag your sorry rump to Celestia!”

Rarity bent her head down whimpering with tears streaming from her eyes as Applejack now feeling apologetic turned around and sighed, “but I'm not, Rainbow Dash needs our help and we need to focus on fixing this mess.”

Rarity looked up with a smile and whispered, “your right darling, I’ll do everything in my power to fix my mistakes.”

The two mares then continued onward as Applejack gave Rarity a pat on the back and apologized, “I’m sorry for yelling’ at ya, it’s just I’m still frazzled after everything that's happened. Seriously, I feel as if I just needed to get that off my chest.”

Rarity paused as she looked up at Applejack and responded. “Applejack there’s nothing for you to apologize about. This is all my fault darling."

Applejack came over and sighed, “well...Rainbow dash and I should’ve been more respectful when we pranked ya.”

Rarity blushed as she whispered, “it’s fine darling." She then chuckled "Look at us now, trying to see who can apologize for the most here."

Applejack couldn’t help but burst into laughter, “sure, I guess so but I would say I would be winning.”

The two then continued onward until they came to a fancy looking house it was quite stunning with a picket fence and, white marble. Rarity was confused upon seeing the house and asked, “darling why did we come here?”

Applejack eyed it and pondered for a few seconds before it suddenly hit the mare, “this...this is my old house!”

They both gave each other odd looks as they trailed through a small stone pathway leading up to the front of the house. As they approached the front door Applejack produced a key and inserted it into the lock and opened the door and the two mares soon found themselves gaping at what they saw. The walls were painted a lovely violet with a giant pink rug in the middle of the white carpeted floors. The room was filled with expensive vases and paintings lining the walls with a giant pink fluffy couch in the middle of the room with a lovely circular coffee table with a costly tea set in the middle of the room. The two mares were so astonished that they almost missed a small poodle barking who ran into Applejack who squeaked in surprise as she fell down onto her rump and laughed as the poodle lick her face. Applejack couldn’t help but smile as she cooed, “Aww, hey stop that snoozy poops!”

Rarity burst into laughter at the name. “Snoozy Poops? You named your dog that!”

Applejack paused she placed the dog down and grumbled, “it wasn’t me; it was Golden Appleseed.”

Rarity then came over to the small little dog and gave it a pat on the head. “Oh he’s just adorable darling, we should take him home with us since your not living here anymore.”

Applejack was unsure as she stepped back. “I don’t know, it feels as if I stepped into a waking dream.”

Rarity took her attention away from the puppy and towards Applejack who was now looking over one part of the wall where a bunch of awards and Newspapers were hung up showing the mare’s critics. Applejack then began to read some of them seeing how she defiled so many businesses with petty complaints like the food was too cold, the service took to long and destroying their reputations made Applejack gag and looked down in shame as she whispered, “Gosh, I sure was critical most of these are bad reviews.”

Rarity slowly came over and explained, ”yes darling, you grew quite popular shutting down restaurants more than you did propping them up. I've been following your career for a while.”

Applejack gave the awards one last dirty look before turning around towards her best friend and explain, “Rarity I know ya didn’t do this on purpose, but I need to make it up to these families who lost their business. I could only imagine if some Smansy Prancy critic took down my family’s farm.”

Rarity gulped as she was unsure of how Applejack would go about restoring the lost businesses and asked, “how darling? I would love for us to go out and restore these restaurants but Golden Appleseed is gone, and we need to find Rainbow Dash and get her back as well.”

Applejack shook her head and stomped a hoof as she shouted, “No! Golden is there still, and I need to bring her out and have her fix this!”

Rarity and over and looked Applejack in the eyes as she replied, “Applejack darling, we can’t do that we need to go and find Rainbow Dash. I’m sure we can figure something out to help those families affected by your reviews. But for now, we need to go.”

Applejack was going to retort, but the conversation was broken when they both heard a knock on the door. The mares looked around with surprised looks on their faces as Applejack quickly came over and unlocked the door and there outside was a stallion unicorn in a fancy tuxedo. He was grey coated and with a slick black mane with pale blue eyes which seemed to be quite nervous as he stammered. “Hello mam, do you know where Goldy is?”

Rarity snickered at the nickname and Applejack gave Rarity a cold stare making her go quiet as the earth pony mare turned around and asked the stallion. “Goldy that’s what ya used to call me?”

The stallion blushed and explained, “well we were um...dating… my name is Silver Dollar madam, and I work in the banking district.”

Rarity blinked in surprise and asked, “you were dating Golden Appleseed?”

The Stallion gave a nod. “Yes I was, we were quite intimate.” He then turned to the little toy poodle barking and running towards him making the stallion smile and exclaim. “Oh Snozzy Poops! How have you been!”

The stallion then rushed into the room and hugged the little dog who bounced into his forehooves. The little dog barked happily and snapped and licked his face making him laugh. The stallion nuzzled the dog and cooed, “oh your just the cutest puppy wuppy ever! Yes, you are! Yes, you are!”

Rarity and Applejack both giggled as the stallion placed the dog down and explained, “He was a present I got Goldy when she bought her house here. By the way, do either of you know what happened to her? I’ve been hearing rumors she went crazy or something?”

Both mares blushed as they looked at each other and Applejack sighed, “look um..this is gonna come as a surprise, but I was Golden Appleseed.”

The stallion blinked and replied, “you don’t say?”

Applejack gave a deep, exasperated sigh as she explained, “yeah long story short my friend Rarity accidentally transformed me into some fancy food critic. Then I supposedly came here, and ruined ponies live for my own gain.”

Silver Dollar adjusted his suit with a blush growing on his face as he stammered, “I...I see…So...your really Applejack.”

The earth pony mare placed a hoof to her chest and proclaimed, “yup, the one and only.”

Silverdollar chuckled and responded curtly. “To be honest, I thought it was odd with your backstory about how you came from Ponyville with no prior history in journalism. ”

Applejack then came over and asked, “look, I know this is sudden and all, but I need ya help. Golden Appleseed wasn’t real, but it seems she did a lot of damage around here and I need to fix it before I go.”

Silver Dollar who was now a bit curious asked, “how will you do that?”

Rarity was also confused and turned around towards her friend and asked, “Yes Applejack how will you do that? As you see your not Golden Appleseed any more and she’s the only one who will be able to set the record straight.”

Applejack turned around to both ponies and proclaimed, “I will just have to bring Golden Appleseed out.”

Applejack was now in Golden Appleseed’s old bedroom with a giant purple covered canopy bed with an enormous wardrobe filled with stylish dresses and other outfits. The earth pony went about getting on a fancy silky black dress all the while Rarity was trying to brush out her mane grunting with each stroke. “Seriously darling, it looks like even a month with expensive shampoos and spa dates your mane is still as stubborn as you.”

Applejack just rolled her eyes and responded, “yeah well, not everypony can have your luxurious purple locks.”

Rarity scoffed as she tossed the brush aside. “It’s call “care” darling I keep my mane like this, and it takes work darling.”

Applejack looked herself in a body mirror and blushed a little seeing herself in the silky black dress and how her mane was tied up nicely with the added lipstick and eyeshadow making Applejack look quite stunning. She couldn’t help but throw her mane back and scoff, “I look great Rarity thanks I’ll consider your debt paid.”

The white-coated unicorn just shook her head and sighed, “look darling you do look amazing, but I’m not sure if this is going to help.”

Applejack sighed and looked over at Rarity as she whispered, “I know, but I need to try at least. I need to tell them ponies I’m not really a food critic and whatever damage I’ve done should be voided because of that.”

Rarity could see the sincerity in Applejack’s eyes and cooed, “right darling I think you have a point.”

Rarity then went about and applied some light blush to each of Applejack’s cheeks. The mare couldn't help but give herself another look in the mirror and whispered, “I do look quite stunning.”

Rarity smirked as she stepped back to admire her work and chirped, “you look, gorgeous darling.”

Applejack stared back into the mirror for a bit longer then suddenly the mare’s mane morphed in front of her very eyes. It started to turn back into the golden color it was before. Then Applejack’s cutie mark turned back to three golden apples printed on her rump.

Rarity stepped backward with a mix of fear and surprise printed on her face. Golden Appleseed then threw back her mane and gave a few steps towards Rarity with a smirk as she replied, “oh yes I am Gorgeous thanks for the makeover darling.”

Rarity gulped and whimpered, “of course any time darling.”

Then all of a sudden Silver Dollar burst into the room shouting, Okay I got the press to come by they’ll be here any mi-”

Before the stallion could finish, he stood there as his mouth went agape upon seeing his old flame standing before him. The mare gave Silver Dollar a smirk as she strutted over shaking her hips back and forth towards the stunned stallion who could only whisper, “Goldy?”

The mare got up into the stallion’s face and whispered into his ear. “Hello Silver it’s been a while.”

Then the mare suddenly came up and gave the stallion a long kiss on the lips. They held the embrace for a while later Silver Dollar blushed to realize that Golden Appleseed is really just a farm mare named Applejack and started to back up as he asked. “Um..this is Goldy right?”

The mare rolled her eyes and shouted, “Yes, of course, it is! Applejack doesn’t have any feelings for you!”

Silver Dollar was still embarrassed, and a little unnerved as he stammered, “I’m sorry this whole ordeal has me confused is all, I didn't know you had two personalities.”

"Applejack is still here, but I’m in control for now.” The mare then gave her mane a pat and turned to Rarity with an angry look. “So you’re actually Applejack’s friend? Your the one who had her take control and ruin my life!”

Rarity backed up with a sheepish grin as she tried to explain, “Look, darling I apologize, but you don’t understand you're not really Golden Appleseed and you never were. You are apart of Applejack now, and she wants you to fix the damage you’ve done to some of the restaurants you reviewed.”

Golden Appleseed stood there in her bedroom looking over to see on her wall was more newspapers covering her reviews of other restaurants, and suddenly she felt a pang of guilt. The mare sighed as she fixed her mane and replied, “fine, I’ll help Applejack she already destroyed my reputation with her uncouth country ways, but I’ll end it permanently.”

Rarity was quite thrilled as she clapped her hooves together and chirped, “you would do that darling?!”

Golden Appleseed looked down at the ground and grumbled, “yes I will, I have a debt to Applejack, and I intend to own up to it.”

The ponies all then jumped as they heard a knock on the door and ponies shouting “Golden Appleseed!”

The mare turned around and adjusted her posture and strutted out into a crowd of ponies all taking pictures and writing furiously into their notepads. Golden Appleseed then raised a hoof and replied. “Ladies and gentlecolts, please calm down, as you may know, there has been some interesting turn of events.”

One reporter exclaimed, “mam, it seems that you are also the earth pony mare from Ponyville known as Applejack, Is this true?”

The mare turned with a smile. “Yes, it is I am also Applejack! That’s why every single one of my reviews should be void and any damage done to the restaurant's reputation should be erased. As in truth I am not a food critic.”

Everypony whispered as one reporter asked, “Mam if this is true then you will lose all your respect you’ve gained here since coming to Canterlot and your job?”

Golden Appleseed turned to the reporter and responded, ”yes...I will, and everything I own will go to my darling Silver Dollar he helped buy my house and set me up here in Canterlot at his own expense.”

Every reporter nodded as one asked, “so does that mean you will return to Ponyville?”

Golden Appleseed gave a nod. “Yes, I will return to Ponyville and resume my life as a simple farm mare named Applejack and continue to save Equestria on the side as well. Now, please let me through I have a train to catch.” She then strutted a path through the crowd of shouting journalists and towards the train station as Rarity meekly bowed her head and followed behind.

The two mares were soon in a line of ponies waiting to get on a train bound to Manehattan. As they continued to move forward Golden Appleseed’s mane turned back to its straw color, and her cutie mark turned back to normal three apples on her rump. The mare groaned rubbing her head and grumbled irritably, “Ugh what just happened?”

Rarity nuzzled her friend and whispered, “you just saved a whole bunch of businesses darling and wrapped up what’s left of Golden Appleseed’s life.”

Applejack smirked as she got up. “Ah Goldy did well, thank Celestia! I was scared she would take her old life back.”

Rarity was stunned and stammered, ”ho..how did you convince her not to?”

Applejack shrugged, “I told her it was the honest thing to do seeing that she never was a food critic. Even Goldy has a sense of honesty that she can’t deny. Despite us being as different as Apples and oranges, honesty is our nature.”

Rarity scoffed, ”still that was quite the risk darling. Please don’t turn back to Goldy ever again.”

Applejack was now looking over her fancy getup and grumbled, “yeah I’ll try not to. The first thing I’m gonna do is get this gosh darn dress off of me.”

As the two were about to board the train Silver Dollar ran down to the station and smiled, “Applejack wait!”

The earth pony mare suddenly stopped and turned around to see the stallion having as he caught up and heaved and began to talk. “Look I know we've only met for a little Goldy, but I need to tell you that I appreciate everything you said back there. The thing is I was scared you didn’t see me that I was just being used. But when you said those words, I just had to run over and tell you that I-"

Without hesitation, Applejack came into a kiss and placed it right on his lips holding it for a little before she backed up with a smile on her face. Silver Dollar stood there with a considerable blush growing on his cheeks as Applejack replied, “It’s okay sugarcube Goldy knows..” she then quickly ran on the train followed by a smirking Rarity.

As the two mares took their seats and Applejack looked out the window to see that Silver Dollar was still standing there on the station with a goofy grin and rubbing his cheek with a hoof. Rarity couldn't help but smile as she turned around and asked, “Applejack darling, was that Goldy or you?”

Applejack blushed and looked away as she crossed her back legs and whispered, “I’m not sure…” The train then suddenly shot steam in the air making a loud chugging noise as the train began to pull away from the station and began to roll down the tracks.
