Rokas

Stay awhile, and listen.

T

Spring, the time of renewal and growth, is upon Equestria, and there is work to be done at Sweet Apple Acres. But while out on his monthly inspection, Big Macintosh runs across a particularly peculiar pony who won't take "no" for an answer.

Unfortunately for him, the day goes downhill from there as the mint-green unicorn just won't get off his back.

Partially inspired by Anthropology, partially by Wild, Sweet & Cool, and mainly by my own growing insanity.

This story just popped into my head last week and refused to leave until I wrote it out. So, enjoy, if you want.

Rated "Teen" for some occasional concepts that may not be entirely appropriate for young children. Nothing worse than you find on Prime-Time TV, but I want to be safe. Otherwise clean. Some light shipping near the end.

EDIT: Modified and updated with hopefully slimmed down sentences and whatnot. Proofreading done by RandomEncounter.

Great work as usual man. :pinkiehappy:

Damn that was a long but very good read, good job! Looking forward to future work from yourself!

You know, this brings to mind the question of if all the unicorns at Celestia's school aren't somewhat psychotic in some way. Between Twilight and Lyra it isn't looking good.

I enjoyed the ride, so to say, and am left wondering if you will write a follow up to this in the future. It might be interesting to see further interaction between the two.

this is pretty funny and thought out :). I wouldn't mind you leaving it like this, but I wouldn't say no to a few other oneshots about this rather fun pair :D

This was a really fun ride (pun totally intended :pinkiehappy:). Human obsessed Lyra makes for fun gags but is very hit and miss when it comes to being done in an actual story. That said this story was most definitly an example of it being a hit.

Though I must say that the premise alone is comedy gold and you managed capitalise on it. I also think I like this version on Lyra, not Pinkie Pie level of hyperactice or impulsive but still manages to get these ideas in her head but not able to leave it be until she acts upon them.

I love the dynamic of Lyra and Big Mac. The just bounced of each other really well. I espicially loved how Lyra used the explanation of the term "In Medias Res" as a way of distracting Big Mac long enough to put the saddle on him. I do hope you make a sequal cause I really enjoyed the chemistry you managed to build.

All in all a great fic

1046252 I've got others here already, but thanks.

1046877 I'm pretty sure ponies in general are insane. :raritywink: As for more, dunno yet. It's crossed my mind but nothing pops yet.

1047397 More? If I get any good ideas 'bout it.

1047857 Heh, thanks. I wanted a Lyra who was a bit nuts but not over the top, and I figured her being somewhat manic would've been a nice balance with a Macintosh who would have the patience to deal with it, but not without protest. Glad you enjoyed it.

Heh, thank ye, sir. Was a bit hard, but like with the "Noble" gasses, you can get reactions if you change the conditions enough. :raritywink:

Well, that settles it. Lyra/Mac is new best pairing ever. I really enjoyed this. The interaction between Big Mac and Lyra was fantastic. Overall, it was amusing and well written, and error free! I hope to see more soon.

Oh my. LyraMac? Who knew you'd get that from a pony riding another pony. It was quite an fun story and Lyra was quite funny with how she rambled on about storytelling and literary elements while getting Big Mac saddled up. The only thing that seems a bit odd is how off the handle Applejack went. I mean she'll act crazy when it's her talents that are on the line, but for the most part she's pretty leveled headed. In fact out of the Mane 6, she's probably the most grounded (figuratively and literally) of them all. Still it was a nice read. Keep it up!

I know AJ's a bit off kilter, but I hand-waved that with Lyra's mentioning of her "cycle". (Yes yes I know equines don't have the same biology but dammit, reproductive biology shapes human cultures extensively and the fact that the ponies talk and have a culture nearly identical to ours indicates a similar behavior in reproduction. Also, it's funnier this way.) :raritywink:

1116725 Just go with they're ponies and it's funnier this way. No need to make them any more similar to humans as it's part of the fun and appeal that they aren't human and don't always work the same way we do. Besides.....magic. *wiggles fingers*

I'm just sayin', if some random person perhaps wanted to be completely anal and argue with me that "ponies don't menstruate" I would counter with the even more anal argument that given their society and psychology, they must have monthly menstruation cycles. For everyone who's not a picky asshole, the "Rule of Funny" should cover it.

Not to mention AJ's reaction is based off of my own mother and sister. I'm sure that every woman is different and many are decent if stressed during such times, but good God, the women I'm related to turn into absolute psychotics for a few days. AJ's reaction is actually quite reserved, comparatively speaking. :scootangel: She at least responds to logic.

1121671 Arguments could be made either way really. As for the asnine super-picky bastards, I think they should just be tuned out. I'm surprised we haven't seen if Ponyville even has a sheriff in the show so far considering everything that's happened.

1123347
Heh, I just had to put in the sheriff and his deputy when I realized that Ponyville is supposed to be like Equestria's version of Mayberry. Only more insane. XD.

1125201
...From the Andy Griffith Show.
That's why the sheriff and the deputy are named as they are.
Artful "Arty" Tailor = Andy Taylor
Barn Stormer = Barney Fife
Too subtle? :unsuresweetie:

1125227 Nah, just confused for a moment. I remembered you said you were putting D:E on your reading list. Fun fact: Mayberry is the main character's name.

amazing story would be awesome if you continued this

1125227 I got it immediately. This is because I watch TV shows decades before my time. My life is sad.:applecry: But at least I have a huge reference pool!:pinkiehappy: So it evens out, I guess.
