I think there are some really good reasons the "kink-list" exists. Key-words for searches coming foremost to mind.

It also used to be completely necessary before the "Fetish" and "Porn" tags. "Sex" is such a vague ass tag as to be almost completely useless.

There's nothing wrong with making your fic easier to search for, easier to decide if you want to put in the time reading it, or finding out it contains something that you don't like/hate/are genuinely afraid of.

I think what you were getting at is it's definitely not needed, strictly speaking. But, personally, I think it's always better to have it.

It can't hurt, and can only help, so why not?

This reminds me of those dark times long ago in the early days of search engines, when websites would load walls of white text on a white background with every keyword imaginable regardless if it had anything to do with the site's content, just to be first on Lycos or Webcrawler.

And mostly, I'm just rustling Carapace's jimmies. He's been feeling down and he could use a sensible chuckle rather than some other BS drama popping up over dumb shit.
