You have my attention and is let to see where this goes

You are a D&D Fan or just thinking my story is interesting?

9393853
Both.

I've played Dungeons & Dragons since early 2nd Edition and it's always been one of my favorite RPGs in almost any incarnation.

The story itself is interesting so far and looks like it has some good potential.

Could use an editor. I didn’t notice many spelling mistakes, but there were a host of grammar and syntax ones.

I do like how Starlight seems to have replaced Twilight as our go-to pony for magical mishaps in fan fictions, at least.

Dash is gonna need to be more than a commoner to survive HotDQ, never mind Rise of Tiamat. I actually see her as a straightforward Fighter (champion), though a case for Barbarian could be made...she has dismal stats for the latter, though. Kind of sad you didn’t keep her as a pegasus; it would hardly make her the strangest adventurer in the Realms. I also seriously doubt that Rainbow Dash has a 16 Wisdom which, among other things, represents common sense. A strong case could probably be made for her to have a NEGATIVE Wisdom modifier.

I’m surprised Willos knows what a genasi is; they’re sufficiently rare in the Realms that most people go their whole lives without seeing one, especially outside of Calimshan (due to its long history with genies and proximity to Zakhara), and the vicinity of Greenest is quite far from there. All of Amn and Tethyr are in the way, and both of those are among the largest nations in the Realms in terms of land area. I think the distance between Greenest and Calimshan is further than the distance between nearby Baldur’s Gate and Waterdeep, and that takes two months of caravan travel in HotDQ

One final note: why would Rainbow Dash be “thankful” that she was clothed? Ponies don’t normally wear clothes and don’t seem to have a nudity taboo and don’t associate nudity with sex. Obviously in EqG ponies get clothes because the thing is marketed towards young girls, but when writing for a more adult audience I don’t see why that should carry over. If Rainbow Dash cares about clothes it should be in a purely utilitarian sense: “good thing I have these shoes to protect these stupid soft feet”, “this stupid furless body doesn’t deal with cold good, good thing I’ve got this cape,” etc.

Oh, and a final question:

Dare Dash enter Ed Greenwood’s magical realm...?

Oh, one other thing that occurred to me: Rainbow Dash should be highly adverse to killing, but remember that you get XP in D&D for defeating challenges, which isn’t necessarily the same as killing them. When I played through HotDQ I was a Rogue who made it all the way to level 8 while only killing two people, one of them accidentally, which sent my rogue into a funk for a good few sessions after it happened.

Dash can knock out (reduce to 0 hp without dealing lethal damage) enemies to her heart’s content, but there is no way it’d be in-character for her to be on-board with killing things, especially obviously sapient beings like kobolds.

For the first part about an Editor... yeah I may need one... Grammar has been one of the things I always struggle with...

As for the Commoner stick, think of it as Level zero. As for classes, I did a poll for what class should she be and came up the answer. Why isn’t she a Pegasus? Mostly by choice.

Her high wisdom? I was mostly banking on her being very perceptive though if there are anyone else that tell me that it should be lowered, then it will change.

How Willos knows what the flip is a Genasi, find out next chapter. The whole clothing bit was mostly the narrator (Me) saying that, but thanks for some future ideas about that xD.

And for the last bit... who? Goes looks up name... Oh neat.

9393874
To that I have to say, it’s going to be hard for her.

9393882
Well, it’s a bit more than just Ed Greenwood being the creator of the Realms...let’s just say that the version that Wizards of the Coast and TSR market to players, is somewhat different from Greenwood’s version...which, due to his contract with TSR (which Wizards inherited) is still canon and true and official, just not focused on.

I won’t go into tremendous detail...just that Ed’s Realms would be X-rated. Not nearly as bad or edgy or immature as FATAL, but still...kinky. There’s a reason why most Realms sourcebooks have the phrase “it’s YOUR Realms” somewhere near the start: so that you know that you aren’t compelled to follow Ed’s version of it.

9393886
It was hard for me and my rogue, too. Even if she does become more okay with killing, I expect it to be a very big and difficult thing for her that she struggles with. And I’m not saying she shouldn’t ever kill anyone...just that she should never be okay with casual death. Frulam Mondath or Landragossa Cyanwrath? Sure, both go out of their way to establish their evil and unrepentant natures, so it's no different than dealing with the Storm King or Sombra. A random kobold? Only if there’s no other choice.

It’s mostly that, in these crossovers, it always seems like it’s the ponies who have to compromise their morality instead of the other thing that might need to change. But since this is a crossover it should make MLP’s worldview just as valid as D&D’s. Rainbow Dash should be trying to make friends and avoid death. I’m not saying it should WORK, just that it should be her first thoughts. Especially since the world she comes from, with its huge variety of species, should make her predisposed towards not automatically assuming that something that looks monstrous IS a monster.

Besides, you know you want her party to include a kobold defector from the Cult of the Dragon who joins Dash ‘cause she was nice to him. :rainbowdetermined2:

Saw the title. Immediately my eyes lit up as dnd crosses with mlp. :rainbowwild:
Anywho. You has my attention. Let us see where this dark road takes us...:rainbowdetermined2:

Well, if she's the commoner class, I'm now wondering where we are in the story. Is this right before Greenest, or is this slightly before the raid? I'm just wondering what the timeline it'll be before things officially kick off. Anyway great chapter! Keep goin and stay golden^^

9395389
It’s not Right Before the raid mind you, that’s way way down the line. The Commoner class is basically level 0 for her... well, level 0.5 since her stats are up there xD

Stat are good but she should have more CHA because she's good at inspiring people/pony to keep it balance make it WIZ 14 and CHA 14. You can make her a lightning Genasi and make up abilities for it. As for class a duel welding Battle Master Fighter and a little Storm Caller Sorcerer would fit.

If you make her a rogue lit it be a Swashbuckler it's a lot more in character for her then the other rogue types.
Strom Caller should still be in it.

9395922
I don't think there's something called a Storm Genasi in 5e... I think that's a homebrew... but I'm going to look that up for simplistic sake since that sounds cool

9396175
Storm Caller is a Sorcerer class type. A Lightning Genasi would be homebrew but lightning is an element in the game a Genasi could be one just think Fire Genasi but with lightning.

9396438
I saw it, and as much as it would be cool, I think I’ll stick with the core stuff... maybe... Hmmm.

Oh boy you made me think now!

Rainbow Dash isn't wise, but she is perceptive. That said she is actually decently charismatic if the way others respond to her is any indication.

9396666
If you want backstory for it say it's because of her pegasi magic going into the world.

If I were running this in Pathfinder, I would suggest that Dash's class be Brawler.

Using 5e rules I can easily see Dash being a monk. Fisticuffs, fast movement, just a bit of magical ability, and they aren't required to be lawful anymore.
