Soothing Stone

Booping, romance, silly stuff, drama, I write it all. Mostly just booping, though.

Within the nation of Equestria, ponies use letters to talk to those close and far away, each with their own story. Some are sad, others are humorous, others recall epic adventures of times past. In this series of oneshots, we'll take a look at some of them as they reveal the character of the ponies that write them.

A lot of characters are featured within the series, so don't read too much into the character tags. Five characters is too few.

My only major gripe with it is how did Derpy and Dinky end up knowing Cadence. It just seems a little implausible. But with some creative story telling, I'm sure you could come up with a way. Otherwise, the story is quite the heart-warmer. Do continue.

Little difficult to say. Consider that even as royalty, and a watered-down alicorn (pegacorn/winged unicorn rather than an alicorn), she was a foalsitter to a Twilight who had not yet caught the attention of Celestia or enrolled in the School for Gifted Unicorns. Being something of a canon Mary Sue, it's very hard to say what Cadence would/wouldn't be doing. I like to think that means it's open for interpretation.

1029024 Mary Sue? What ever dost thou mean? Thine maiden was simply smart, nice, attractive to pony standards, had no flaws, was incredibly overpowered, stopped an entire army by something as simply stupid as loving her fiance... uh... oh... hehe...

Was retconned into the main character's background along with her Gary Stu husband, both qualifying as friends when it was said she had absolutely zero, breaks the two-alicorn established canon, and used a G Gundam move to take down an entire army. She's also the OC of Sibsy's daughter, if I remember correctly. And friends with the main cast, more or less.

You're right, I can't see why she's a Mary Sue either. It totally escapes me. :V /exaggerated winking is involved at this point

/that dripping sound you hear is from the puddle of sarcasm under my post

If Cadence is Mary Sue, she is best Mary Sue.

1030045 Wonder what would've occurred with the Changeling War had those two not used that love-nuke thing?

Perhaps I should explore this...

:twilightoops: Don't really want to think about the situation where that over-grown bug wins...

Oh come now, Chrysalis is a good villain! And rather good reasoning, if a bit warped.

:twilightoops: She tried to conquer Canterlot! What kind of reasoning supports that?!

Her Changelings have to feed, right? What happens if an entire race is starved?

:twilightoops: The whole race dies out...yeah, true. Still, the Changelings could have negotiated...

Changelings lack that kind of feeling. Either you're pulled into the fold and used as food, or quietly fed on by a false lover.

:twilightoops: Chrysalis is a 'mare' of extremes, apparently...though I do see the point in the invasion option. If it wasn't for my brother and his wife, Canterlot would've been running red with all the fighting...

And likely would've been lost.

:twilightoops: Chilling thought...

I get the distinct feeling he was lying through his teeth to her, and fed her all sorts of gross misinformation.

:fluttercry: why make such a sad ending for her?

So, Trixie's life following the incident in Ponyville is a mess of unsatisfying tears, she makes an apology for things that weren't exactly her fault in a way that runs counter to what little we've seen of her character, and then she's brutally attacked and permanently crippled for no real narrative puropose. Right.

I thought pointless Trixie abuse went out of vogue back during the first interseason.

To be honest, I don't understand why this hasn't gotten one thumbs down yet.

What how dare those thugs do that to Trixie, they're going to pay! :twilightangry2:

Why would you end it like this???
