Sunset Shimmer's plans of revenge against the Princess had everything going right, up until she came back through the portal. She thought the biggest problem would be the crown being given to Celestia. Instead, she does the right thing, to the shock of everyone, and is now dead. But her uncharacteristic sacrifice and unique origins has created an opportunity for the Spirit Realm. Under the employment of Botan, a grim reaper, and Koenma, the heir to the Spirit Realm, Sunset is unknowingly given one last chance to earn the crown and wings that she so desperately coveted once before.

Hey everypony, just wanted to thank you all for checking this out ahead of time. I loved watching and reading Yu Yu Hakusho as a kid. For the last year+ I've had this thought lodged in my head that kept pushing Sunset as an incredible Spirit Detective. Out of all the unpublished stuff I started, this was one few crossover ideas that I'm surprised has never been replicated by someone else... so a few of my friends finally convinced me to polish it up and publish. So, here it is!
It takes place in the mid/late 2010s and not in the 1990s. Additionally, no Yusuke, Keiko, and Kuwabara... the rest? Well, you'll just have to wait and see!

firstly you got my curiosity, now you got my attention. I have to say, the idea of having a yuyu hakusho version of EG, was a great idea, and I know you can have great ideas about how to use it. While I still preffer the Portuguese version of the anime, cause the voice actors were perfect. Anyway, I hope you can maybe add Yusuke Urameshi or not, depends on how you are going to use her. LOL
This story had better not die like all the other Yu Yu Hakusho crossovers on this site.

Well now, we don't see nearly enough Yu Yu Hakusho these days. Looking forward to seeing where this goes. Now I wonder who's going to fill Hiei and Kurama's roles.

If you ever get the chance, and have several hours to kill, I totally recommend giving Yu Yu Hakusho a try. The anime and manga both have different strengths and weaknesses, but I definitely would encourage you trying it out. The english dub is absolutely amazing too, FWIW as someone who only listens to Japanese Dubs, this is one of the few exceptions to watch in English.

Honestly a little surprised there wasn't a big push on a YuYu fic, especially when the new OVAs released. It would seem to be in the release window for the age group of the fandom... same with Inuyasha too, yet, those are kinda nonexistent? I don't think I've even seen an actual Sailor Moon one either. I remember watching those as a kid in the early to mid 2000s, just surprised they kinda got ... forgotten it feels like.
It looks like you're taking the liberty of using characters from the show. Well if you decide to have some Equestria Girls characters to replace some of the human cast of Yu Yu Rainbow Dash would make for a great replacement for Kuwabarra. Well we're going to see Sunset's wake soon so let's see how the Mane 5 react then.

Oooh, I like this premise. Random fact: the mangaka of YYH and HxH is married to the lady who made Sailor Moon.
This is par for the course in YYH. So far, Sunset makes Yusuke seem tame with how often she swears- even worse that she’s part of a race where spontaneous musicals are normal, solitude can be a fate worse than death and their curse words are actually tame compared to every other race in fiction.

Cadence / Sunset is one of my favorite crack ships... but it is a step down from my favorite ship... Queen Chrysalis and Sunset Shimmer! I have that entire plot written, and I've always loved it. If I ever find the time to build confidence in true horse words, I may even write it.
I'm curious if we can see who will be part of the Kwabara part, it will be Kwabara himself or it will be Rarity or Rainbow Dash who was bullied by Sunset Shimmer? I'm curious while I love Yu Yu Hakusho and totally recommend to everyone to watch the anime, especially in more than just one language, because it seems it is the only anime which can be perfect dub by any voice actors.
And I can't wait to see if Hiey will be shipped with Sunset Shimmer, or Sunset Shimmer bully Lord Koema many times LOL

I think Kwabara must be Rainbow Dash. And Rose be Kurama, but I don't think she had the same dramatic circumstances as Kurama, I think Kurama must posses Rose and he is now she. That's my opinion.
I think Toguro shouldn't be represented by another character than himself, he is the best tragic villain and must be saved from himself, like Sunset find a way to do that.
