Chapter 4 - Time Skip And Arrival In Ponyville

Twilight woke up as she usually did. She got up, ate breakfast, and read a few books before getting ready for the day. It had only been a few weeks since she arrived in Ponyville and she was enjoying it. As she was eating her breakfast she started a conversation with Spike about todays activities.

"So that's why I think we should reorganize the books by author rather than by name." Twilight said making her point.

"Well that would make since, but not everypony will look for an au-Urp!" Spike said being interrupted by a letter appearing in front of him. Spike quickly caught the letter and read it aloud.

Dear Twilight,
It's been quite a while since I have seen you. I think it was when Spike was about 4. I decided that it's been far overdo for me to visit you and catch up on things. So I'm writing this in advance to give you time to prepare. I know you don't work well under pressure. It's a miracle you haven't had a mental breakdown at point. Anyways I'll be arriving about one day after you receive this letter. I will see you soon.

Twilight gasped when she heard the name of the sender. She immediately grabbed spike in her magic before running into the main library room and starting to reorganize the room. Moving books with her magic while looking around for items to decorate the room with.

"I can't believe it! Notte is coming! It's been so long since I've seen him!" Twilight nearly screamed, barely holding in her excitement. Running around with extreme joy.

At this moment she heard a knock at the door. she ran over to open it and saw the friends she made while in Ponyville. Standing at the door was Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, and Rarity. Rarity in particular made Spike immediately come to attention.

"Oh hey girls. Its good to see you. Oh maybe you can give me a helping hoof with something." she said ecstatically. Her friends apart from Rainbow Dash gave her a supporting smile. Rainbow Dash just gave her a confused eyebrow raise.

"What do you need help from us foe Twilight?" Rainbow said with confusion clear in her words. Twilight looked at her before and replied with extreme enthusiasm.

"My brother is coming for a visit tomorrow for the first time in eight years and I want to be ready for his arrival!" Suddenly her friends gave her a look of surprise not knowing she had a brother. Twilight answered their questions before they could even ask them.

"Yes, I actually have two brothers. My big brother Shining Armor, And my twin brother Notte." She said before turning away to continue preparing for her brothers arrival before turning again to speak.

"Yes...Also Notte is the one who's visiting." Twilight said as her friends walked into the library. Her friends looked at each other before smiling yet again.

"Of Course we would be happy to help ya' Twi." Applejack said voicing the others opinion.

"What do we need to do first?" Rainbow said. Twilight looked up at them before speaking.

(P.O.V 1st Notte)
(Time Skip 1 day)
(Train To Ponyville)
A lot has happened since my first jump into the dreams of Princess Celestia. It turns out she blames herself for her sisters fall into darkness, and has been torturing herself in her dreams ever since. I decided to wait and observe her actions in her dreams. Usually she would be bombarded with questions on how she could have saved her sister, and this is where I learned the true story of Nightmare Moon.

Luna, feeling lonely and unloved by anypony. Decided to create a creature that would love and appreciate her night. This creature was Nightmare Moon. Although not the one that became written in history. In fact she was more a normal pony that was given a slight influence over the night, mainly due to her connection to Luna.

Luna and Nightmare Moon would speak and care for each other through the night in secret. Then Luna and Celestia went to war with Sombra and The Crystal Empire. In which their final conflict caused the empire to be lost. During the fighting Sombra placed a curse on Luna. A curse that would not take hold for another one hundred years.

After the curse finally took hold Luna became violently insane. She forcefully absorbed Nightmare Moon and raised the moon over the sun. Creating the story of Nightmare Moon known today. This is also the reason I am traveling to Ponyville. I believe that she is still somewhere in the castle in the Everfree. Waiting for someone to find her.

Over the years I have made sure not to stand out. I made sure my grades where good and graduated Celestias School For Gifted Unicorns early to my families surprise. After graduating I decided to travel the world and learn from all species.

I learned more about flight from the pegasai in Cloudsdale. I studied martial arts under the griffons. I learned farming from the earth ponies in Appleoosa. Eventually I got lots of strength training in the mountains with some dragons and later a family of rock farmers called the Pies. Speaking of whom they said to say hi To Pinkie Pie if I ever meet her. Although that's beside the point. The last part of my major journey was to travel to the ruins of Starswirl the bearded laboratory. There I learned some of the most powerful and diverse spells in the world. Thus concluding my journey.

During my schooling I got my cutie mark. The mark was a Neutron Star surrounded by what looked like the dust of a blue Supernova. The mark made it even easier to use spells of all kinds and during my travels even earning me a new nickname. The Neutron Nova. That's a bonus if you ask me.

I was brought out of my thoughts by the sound of the train stopping. I picked up my black cloak and put it on. Making sure to hide my ethereal mane. I picked up the saddle bags with my magic and put them on underneath my cloak. Making sure that my book was hidden. I brought a book that I had written spells in that I had recovered or created on my journey throughout this world. Two of which I planned to use once I got to The castle.

For now though, I would be in the company of my sister and any friends that she's made over the years. The door off the train open, and I step off once again into this wild world.

Not a fan of the curse idea.
I have always seen Nightmare Moon as Luna's dark side and the embodiment of all her negative traits without her positive traits and goodness to balance things out. An evil of her own creation born from Luna giving in to her envy and other dark desires instead of coming to terms with and mastering that aspect of her self.

Otherwise, this story is interesting enough, albeit kind of slow. But I am willing to wait to see where things go from here.

I understand and that is what I see Nightmare Moon as too.
The main reason for doing this is to sort of go off the beaten path for Nightmare Moon. I wanted to place her in a closer situation to Metal in order for their future interactions to each other and other characters to work. The similarities here are the fact that they were created to serve and were forced to do evil things by their creators.

I am glad that you're enjoying the story though and I hope I explaned my reasonings well.

Makes sense. I'm always open to new interpretations of these kinds of things and the new stories that can be told using them. It's certainly a good way of making King Sombra actually credible as a villain compared to his lackluster performance in the Crystal Empire two-parter.
