This story is a sequel to Weekend With The Pies
Since Spike got brand new wings, Rainbow started teaching how to fly. With little to zero luck, she has only one last idea, take him with her to see The Wonderbolts, hoping he will finally learn how to fly. And maybe get him to fall in love with her.
Rainbow also has to make sure that Cloudchaser doesn't win over first, with her history with stallions in the past. Rainbow knows that Cloudchaser would love to crush Spike's heart under her hoof and destroy the happy that he made with Pinkie and her sisters and any other mare that might want to be with Spike.

Wow! I didn't think Weekend with the Pies would get a sequel. I am very excited about this story and the other stories that are to come. The are so many Spike/Main 6 stories I am very pleased your adding characters like Trixie as well.

"Listen up Spike!" Rainbow's voice boomed as she flapped her wings to stay airborne.
"Because of your new wings, you've increased in coolness by 20 percent. But that doesn't mean you're the hot stuff!"
"Umm, yes?" replied Spike, quite unsure as of what to reply.
"That's a 'Yes Ma'am' from you! Just because we're friends does NOT mean that you get any special treatment! You will know how to fly. You will know how to do tricks and flips. And you will know how to speed up, slow down, and land! Do I make myself clear?!"
"Yes Ma'am!" replied Spike, really not sure what to say.
Spike was still coming to terms with what had happened. Shortly after his trip to the Pie Family Rock Farm, where he had started a harem with Pinkie Pie and the rest of the Pie Sisters. Soon after Spike entered a strange molt, causing him to grow wings. Looking back on the moment when he had showed his friends his wings for the first time, Spike was certain that he could recall Rainbow Dash blushing. Since that day, whenever Spike had had any free-time, Rainbow had made sure that he spent the time with her, practicing. Unluckily, Spike was still getting used to his new wings. He was unable to even take off!
As Rainbow Dash watched Spike do the wing stretches that she had assigned him, her mind focused on a strange conversation that she had had with Pinkie and the other members of Spike's harem when they had moved closer to Ponyville.

Yeah, but the show is stupid. On the episode, he knew how to fly perfectly, and when he meets his "father" he was trying to learn how to fly.

Actually, if you remember, when Twilight first got her wings, she could fly properly and in the next episode she had to have Rainbow teach her.
It's actually quite consistent IMO
Spike was focusing on saving Rarity and Zecora he was not self-conscious about flying. But when he was being taught, he was self conscious about it so that's why he kept screwing up
