interesting point. I admit when reading Ember I've never thought about it this way.
Especially because as younger I've never had a money for such visit, so it never occurred to me how it could end.
on the other hand if every escort service would blackmail you it would be contraporductive.
Still, what can I know about abusing people in this line of work, what they have to do, what they are paid for it.
I guess that we have to agree that Ember's is kind of idealized version of "paid sex" as it is not always paid, not always sex and Ember is her own master/mistress

Came here because of SPark's blog post. You need a pre-reader to catch a few mistakes and some over the top flowery language like in the beginning of chapter 1.
Apart from that and for the actual substance of the story: I like it.
It's an interesting perspective on deliberations on making use of Ember's services. The main character feels real and his friend is good as well.

I am tempted to get a pre-reader, but at the same time, I kinda really like my mistakes in my work when I read it back. It just feels right on the page somehow.

Taking a look in the mirror indeed. I don't think I could ever pay for sex, at least in part due to some similar thoughts on the matter. Dangerousness of the whole thing, degradation to both, ire against the perception of weakness...
Will likely keep Ember to my fantasies too. (I know we'd all probably want him to visit, but I just can't help but feel he didn't.)
