Disappointment-Incarnate

I'm a disappointment to everyone.

T

Daybreaker's Empire is in ruins. The Entirety of the continent had banded together to attempt to take her Empire down, and with her sister Luna leading the charge the Empire was both outnumbered and outmatched.

Now the Solar Empire is on it's last legs. The Continental Alliance is closing on Canterlot, the last citadel of the Mad Empress, and Daybreaker feels the sins of her past, the crimes she has committed, and her final judgement closing on her.

This is a story for the Hoi4 Mod Equestria at War

Ouch, Why did Twilight Commit Suicide? I know that this point she would be Sunrise Sparkle, but as far as I know she was more of an Adviser, yes? Did she just feel that they wouldn't Forgive her switching Sides and blame her for the Atrocity's just as much as they would have blamed Daybreaker?

Yeah. This worked right up until you mentioned Twilight. Why? Anyone with even an ounce of common sense knows that, even before they were equals, Twilight would never be this f***ing stupid or blind. AU or not.

But then again this fandom has proved again and again that no. Sense has no place here.

I would just like to point out that I did not write the original setting for EAW and used it with permission from the original creators.

Blame them for Sunrise Sparkle lol.

I actually didn't know this was so thought out until after I said that. Now I feel sorta bad for saying that to the wrong person.

It's fine lol.

I'm a pretty chill guy

Should have known that Daybreaker was not going to go down without a fight, and jeeeeeeez, that was brutal. :twilightoops: The one that hit me the most was when that griffon soldier emptied his magazine at her. As a gun-owning self-defender, that has got to be the most stressful experience to go through.

Too short, but eh. Not too much to complain about, since this is a short fic.

Well, it is plausible that Twilight may have been radicalized years prior somehow, only realizing the insanity of it all after Celestial's refusal to surrender despite presumably having lost basically everything and with countless enemy soldiers literally being at the gates of Canterlot itself.

1. Perhaps she was using her life as a bargaining chip, hoping that Celestia would back down and agree to surrender.
2. Perhaps she couldn't forgive herself for participating in a war that would leave countless millions dead on both sides.
3. All of the above.

I agree. While I do not own a firearm (gun control is strict where I live), the Griffon's futile attempt to save his life after most likely witnessing thousands of his comrades that he had likely marched with for weeks, maybe even months prior to the battle of Canterlot be obliterated is pretty emotionally impactful.

I did enjoy reading this series, but I think the final chapter doesn't empathize the total destruction of Equestria and the resulting attempts to rebuild it afterwards. A war of this scale would've almost totally destroyed Equestria as a nation, especially considering it is implied in the final chapter that the Solar Empire at one point controlled several major Changeling cities, which would've been a nightmare (pun not intended) for the Solar Empire to occupy, even for a short period of time. It also implies that the war has been ongoing for quite some time, meaning that the Solar Empire most likely lost millions of ponies, having to conscript the very young and very old by the time the continental army reached Canterlot. Considering that Celestia had effectively lost her mind by the beginning of the battle of Canterlot, it is also possible that Celestia may have pursued a "scorched earth" policy, meaning that the Solar Empire would've self-sabotaged their land (most likely by burning it) so that the continental army would be unable to use it to grow food or effectively supply their army.
