Tfw you walk through the girls aisle in target, see all the pony clothing, and desperately wish you were a girl aged 4-9. Sigh.

Loyalty, Kindness, Generosity, Honestly, Laughter and Magic; it is these qualities which make the Knights of Canterlot so worthy of their titles. But when the sorceress Sunset Shimmer, personal student of Princess Celestia and rumored lover of Princess Twilight defects from the Order of Canterlot and steals her crown, Twilight Sparkle asks her friends to help find her.

But will the six of them be enough to defeat Sunset Shimmer? And will Twilight have the fortitude to do what needs to be done when they finally do find her?

Submission for Oroboro's Sunset Shipping Contest: Journeys.

Many thanks to Demous_Abyss for soundboarding this amusing anecdote.

 that was funny a d&d campaign

Nice, a clever twist indeed!

If you don't know where this cover art came from, how did you find it?

9146391
Discord — third party had it, and I’m unsure where *they* got it :twilightsheepish:

9146195
Aren’t they all amusing? Lol unless the dm isn’t a good storyteller

Got to admit didn't see that twist coming nice work especially the fantasy world short but pretty well handled

Sunset in that image = hawt. 😍

Interesting. Didn't see that coming but it was still good for a pony SunLight story.

I was almost expecting it to be a training exercise, actually. Well done!

9146612
lol That would have been funny, too :rainbowlaugh:

9146585
Thanks a bunch! I appreciate it

9146558
You aren't wrong

Derpibooru source, the original source is from a deleted deviantArt account :(

i don't get it.

All they're missing is a spray bottle and a room :rainbowlaugh:

9146395
You can find the source for the image here: https://derpibooru.org/577100

Also this was a lot of fun. I approve. :)

Well, that was entertaining. I honestly kinda want to see Human Twilight's reaction to the explenation. But leaving it off where it is is probably for the best.

And yes. If you look hard enough, there is a source book for erotic fantasy. Me thinks Sunset found a copy.

9148489
Pfffffft hahahahahaha! Looks like we have a sequel! :rainbowlaugh:

9148506
And I'm not pulling any legs here either. The one I saw ran for $200, but it was from a used book store.

9148621
9148506
Oh yeah the D&D book of erotica. Yeah it's a thing.

9148621

There are several. And that's not counting the fan made free internet only ones. They're not as rare as you'd think.

Webdog, you magnificent bastard.

Hah. Probably the best comment yet.

So let me get this straight.... Sunset spent all this time just to get to Twilight when she was dating Sci Twi already.

Apparently Sunset has good taste for choosing best Twilight in the end.

Side note: Would this be considered Sunlight, Sciset, or Twiangle Sunlight?

Ha! Hahaha. Nicely done.
I... can't exactly say I was expecting the twist, but the possibility was in my mind. I was thinking it might be a video game, actually. (Maybe I was influenced by my entry in the contest, which doesn't try to hide it :raritywink:)

It was a jolly fun story. I'm not sure how much of a romance it is, exactly? Just an adventure/twist with a couple making out at the end. Though that's fun enough as it stands  I do like the foot-pop.

I also do love it when there's a confident antagonist, powerful and arrogant enough to show off by neutralising every attack the heroes make on her and make it all look like a game. That's a lovely trope when done well and I loved how you did it here. Of course, it's most satisfying when the heroes come up with some clever way to win the confrontation anyway, which didn't exactly happen here.

Looks like your proofreader slacked off a bit at the end. Several typos were sticking out to me in the final sections: (Edit: all fixed now!)

9151474
Hey! Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts; I really appreciate it :moustache: I wanted to do something different for this contest, and felt like it was far enough left field that it would be good. Having the narrative focused more on Pinkie was an amusing idea, too. I actually went through a few different versions of this story, but in the end decided that this version was my favorite. It made me smile the biggest, at least. The foot pop just gives me the warm fuzzies and reminds me of the princess diaries. I'm a nerd.

I haven't read yours yet, actually. I was gonna wait until the contest was over then go through the entries, buuuuut I can't hold myself back with a hint like that! I do love me some video game twists!

Thanks a bunch for the catches, as well. I didn't have this proofread by another person and ended up doing it all myself through a number of read throughs. Ya never catch them all, though, huh? And its always the little stuff you miss. Much appreciated! :pinkiehappy:

Cheers!

9151363
Nahhh Sunset wasn't dating SciTwi. SciTwi was just dm-ing, and being awkward around Sunset (who is dating Princess Twilight)

9151703
Oh thank goodness, that would have been awkward has HELL!! :twilightblush:

Anyways, instant fave!

I was wondering why this didn't have an AU tag.

In any case, I feel like I just watched episode 17 of an unfamiliar anime. The at-times overly grandiose language glosses over some rather important context that never really gets addressed. Why would Rarity know about Sunset's summoning capabilities if no one else in the party does, including Twilight? Why did Sunset do so little to actually bar the way after all that talk of her funneling them right where she wanted them? What did she plan on doing (or even could do) with the crown anyway?

The ending was fun, but the journey felt somewhat haphazard. Still, best of luck in the judging.

9151850
Hah. Basically, that's what I was going for; the feel of jumping in an ongoing campaign or a TV show midway through the season. Some people like it, and some don't. It skims over a lot because it wasn't part of the story, or was unimportant to the overall 'plot', and anything else (like the crown, etc) wasn't touched upon because the narrative cut out before any resolution could be made. Maybe someday I'll go back to it and see where the campaign takes me :derpytongue2:

Anyway, thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts! I really appreciate it!

Wasn't expecting the end, but that's why I enjoyed reading (I was really caught up with where it took place and the characters themselves).
Good luck for the contest, and hoping to see it placed.

9166877
Hah. Thanks a bunch -- glad you enjoyed the ride. The ending just gets me every time.

Placing would be fun, but the competition is stellar all around (especially a select few) so I'm not holding my breath. Though I am hoping for the uniqueness angle with this entry :twilightsheepish:

Cheers!

The last bit of the campaign made me laugh, good job!

Dammit. :| I'm honestly mad. This was a cool high fantasy AU, and I wanted to see more, but you pulled the rug out at the end. Guess the lack of AU tag should've told me something. c.c I done played myself.

9319392
Hah! My apologies for that :twilightsheepish: -- to make it up to you, I'll do little tinkering and see what I can come up with for a full campaign.

9319418
That doesn't quite have the same pop as this just being a whole other world. :B

9319775
Well, in that case, I'm deeply sorry for ruining your day :-3 At least we got a little bit of Sunlight action out of it. Silver lining, and all that jazz.

Hardly ruined. :) This was still a good read.

9319847
Many gracias, bud! :moustache:

I expected a twist I didn't expect that twist.

“Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! Okay, timeout!” Applejack declared, standing from her chair and pointing an accusing finger towards Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle. They were still kissing, eyes closed and their hands winding each other’s hair, and were therefore unaffected by the glare being sent their way. “Are you tellin’ me that we dragged Twilight here through the portal for a three day weekend, went through a twenty-five hour long campaign, seven boxes of pizza and four pallets of soda, just so she an’ Sunset could suck each others face off?!”

I love this.

Ngl I would love to see more Princess Twi x Sunset from you because this was a great read an a pretty funny twist at the end.

Lmao this was a great read, thank you author for the laugh!
