Chronicler06

Anything can be awesome when it's made of Lego.

E

(Takes place between LEGO Equestria Girls 5 and LEGO Equestria Girls 6.)

Starlight Glimmer has been given permission to spend the next few days in the Lego World with her new friends, so she decides to spend that time with each of them individually to learn more about this alternate world they live in. All seven of them are excited to show her their favorite aspects of their world, and in a world made of Lego, all kinds of craziness is sure to occur.

Summaries of each short story:
Kung Fools Fighting: Sunset Shimmer takes Starlight to the dojo where she once learned the basics of hand-to-hand combat, hoping to pass her impressive fighting talents onto Starlight so that she could be ready to defend herself in any situation.
Flight Simulator Extreme: Rainbow Dash teaches Starlight how to pilot an aircraft by using a flight simulator, but the first attempt doesn't quite go very smoothly.
Gunslinger Shenanigans: Applejack shows Starlight how to use a pistol, and throughout the practice session, Starlight ends up learning both the advantages and the hazards of firearms.
Mistress of Disguise: Rarity shows Starlight a wide range of different outfits she has designed for her friends, specifically the ones she had just created especially for Starlight.
Pet Shop of Wonders: Fluttershy shows Starlight all kinds of animals she cares for in her pet shop, including a creature unlike anything from Equestria.
Highs and Lows: Pinkie Pie shows Starlight around her secret party planning cave and ends up demonstrating a rather funny party trick.
Twilight’s Laboratory: Twilight Sparkle invites Starlight into her secret laboratory, where she performs scientific experiments and invents all kinds of incredible gadgets and devices.

A nice start, I must say. I'll be following this story, and am interested to see what other misadventures Starlight will get herself into.

Aww, no Brown Ninja? :pinkiesad2: Oh, well. This was still funny. :rainbowlaugh:

I had to go look up who Barry Smith was with this chapter cause didn't know if he was made up or a real Lego character.

Anyway I've been looking forward to this. Did some re-reading for your past Lego Stories as a way to past the time. Sunset teaching Starlight kung fu was awesome. And now I feel like listening to that "Everybody was Kung Fu Fighting" song. Looking forward to what comes next for Starlight.

9093708 9094413 Unfortunately, I still haven't managed to get around to watching any episodes of the Ninjago TV series (though it's certainly on my to-do list, as I really would like to be able to make possible references to it in my fanfiction series). Instead, this chapter takes most of its inspiration from a particular level of Lego City Undercover.

9093932 If you've played through the game Lego City Undercover (or at least watched videos of the game content on YouTube like I did), then you would've quickly recognized that guy. Certainly not the first time I've referenced that game, as you may recall from the presence of Chase McCain in the later chapters of the fourth story.

“Ah ha! There’s your problem!” Rainbow Dash suddenly spoke up outside. “Whoever last used this thing had left the difficulty setting on ‘Absurdly Extreme’.”

So, who used it last? :applejackunsure: I know it's probably not Rainbow Dash. I'm pretty sure she'd remember having to pretend fly through a tornado and past alien lasers.

I remember that part where they flew the space ship in Equestria. Very nice little call back there.

You know for a minute there: I thought during they're whole flight, they believed it as gonna be a simulation, but it turns out they were flying for real the whole time. But hey Starlight did good for it being on Absurdly Extreme. Good thing she had Rainbow to teach her.

9108591 I don't think it really matters who used the simulator before Rainbow and Starlight. The point here is that Rainbow had failed to check the difficulty level when she set up the first simulation, and it was only on closer inspection afterword that she actually noticed it.

Don't forget Cheese's party tank.

‘This is a piece of plastic . It should not be edible.’

Starlight, YOU are currently a piece of plastic. By that logic, you shouldn't even be alive.

This was still pretty nice. I really liked the gag with the shot going wild and screwing up the house. XD

9122439 Try not to put too much thought into that idea. I had Starlight mention these thoughts to point out that, although she is consciously aware that things in the Lego World still largely behave in much the same way as in Equestria, her subconscious biases from living in Equestria will always leave her with the impression that things like people, creatures, and food shouldn't be made of something like plastic, regardless of how open-minded she might be.

I wasn't aware in the Lego World words like "Death" and "Kill" weren't allowed. I mean I do recall in past stories people have said things like "Take away" or "Lose" their Creation Sparks.

Ri2

'Deadly' is a bad word?

This was fun. I enjoyed it, and nice setup for the later outfits for the Mane 5 too!

Needless to say, I am convinced that we are long overdue for a new style.

Way to come up with an explanation for the girls having new standard outfits. 👍

Yeah I really never understood how clothing worked in Lego. So glad to have someone explain it.

9136263 Main 7, actually. All seven of them switched to the new outfits at the same time, so I'll be doing this here as well.

9136374 I got the idea when I noticed that for some of Lego's longer running themes, the main characters would often be included with new sets every year, but with slightly different variations (probably because people who collect many sets over the years don't want the exact same minifigures over and over again). I figured that if all the themes that run for multiple years are always changing the characters designs, then that should make it easy to explain why the Main 7 will be getting new outfits as of the next story.

9138420 I'm not entirely sure if I explained it good enough, but I certainly tried my best. Also, to answer your question from last week, I had often noticed that some of the more pure Lego settings (such as the movie Adventures of Clutch Powers and the game Lego City Undercover) would always try to avoid using those words entirely (for example, there's this quote from Lego City Undercover: "This is a matter of life or... well, the other thing."). I'll admit, I did find it rather odd they would go so far to avoid such words, so the best in-universe reason I could think of was that those words were considered to be as bad a profanity in the Lego World.

Not only that, it seemed that not even the most ridiculous or outlandish of ideas could be considered impossible in this world.

You went flying on a giant kite in the last installment, and you are just barely figuring this part out. :ajbemused: :rainbowlaugh: Then again, raptors on motorcycles really is a bit of a stretch of the imagination. :rainbowlaugh:

You got inspiration from that Jurassic World parody for the raptor riding the motorcycle, didn't you? XD

This was pretty fun. I quite like the LEGO Jurassic World references with the raptor here :pinkiehappy:

This scene makes me remember in Lego Jurassic World where they did that scene where they were gonna feed the Raptor's a cow, but the cow got free and someone swapped places with the guy who was controlling the crane.

I'm surprised Starlight didn't freak out finding out the Raptor's a carnivore. That would lead her to putting the pieces of what the sausages are.

9149930 As I had said back when I first mentioned the reference in the third story, I never actually saw that video, but I did see some comments referring to it at around the time the Lego Jurassic World video game came out, and it seemed so absurdly fitting for a Lego setting that I just had to use it.

9154997
I actually think the game developers put it in there as a reference to the video.

Another neat trick they did with sulfur hexafluoride was to fill an aquarium with it and float a boat made of tinfoil on it.

That chapter put a smile on my face. I seriously love how Helium can make one sound like Chip and Dale. I didn't know there was a type that could make someone sound like a demon in those movies. Good to know though.

“Oh, that’s something I use for one of my party tricks,” answered Pinkie as she quickly crossed the room and grabbed another tall air cylinder. “Its actual name is some big science-y word that I could never seem to remember, so I just call it anti-helium because it has the opposite effect of helium.”

According to Google, the gas you're looking for is sulfur hexafluoride. :twistnerd:
And (long pause) you already pointed that out in the author's notes. :ajbemused: Well, there goes my nerd moment. :ajbemused:

Just so you know, I had to Google it because I thought the gas in question had bromine in it or something, but I guess I was wrong.

This was silly but nice. Just like Pinkie :pinkiehappy:

9163258 Yes, that was the actual myth they tested on that episode of Mythbusters I had mentioned.

9163294 Yeah, virtually everyone knows that helium makes your voice higher, but apparently not many people are aware that there's a gas that causes the opposite effect. As a result, I personally find the lower voice funnier than the higher voice because it's just less commonly used. In fact, for many of the times that I've heard someone alter their voice with sulfur hexafluoride, among the things they'd say would be to recite a certain famous line from Darth Vader, but I couldn't use it in this chapter since both characters are girls, so I tried to reword it into something that still had a similar meaning.

9163805 I had wanted to identify that gas by name in the chapter itself, but I figured that only Twilight would be able to accurately memorize a big complex name like sulfur hexaflouride, and since this chapter is supposed to feature Pinkie Pie, I decided to have her simply refer to it by her intended purpose for it, and that's to have the opposite effect of helium.

9168095
Yep, I mentioned it because you didn't, for the benefit of people who hadn't seen it.

All Twilight needs is an iris scanner, and she'd have Edna Mode's security system, but that would be pointless because most minifigs don't even have irises. You know, I had a feeling that "Mad Twience" was going to show up in this chapter.

This was fun. I appreciated the "Mad Twience" part of this chapter. Kind of had to do it, am I right? XD

That was very nice for your last series of short stories. I am looking forward to your next main installment of the Lego Equestria Girls.

9177267 9177596 Back when Twilight was a Shadowbolt agent, she always had some kind of laboratory at every one of her hideouts, so it was to be expected that she would want one at her new permanent residence, and this short story happened to be an excellent opportunity to show it off. I also took this opportunity to show off a few other things I hope to eventually include in some future stories (such as that "Hack-Man" game used in certain security systems and Sunset Shimmer getting her own plasma blade). And yes, I just couldn't resist that "Mad Twience" reference, but with a different reason for young boy Spike (and of course using that old Frankenstein quote).
