It's from the "summer surprise" episode from the other day. In said episode, Pinkie gets waaaaay too attached to the thing. To an unhealthy extent, which I realize is for comedic effect, but still. It felt like they tried to fit too many ideas into there.

...What? I'm not entirely clear on where that's happening in here, assuming I'm interpreting what you're saying correctly. Maybe the theater scene? That wasn't intentional on Pinkie's part, that was her being so enraptured she didn't notice what's around her. Thought that was clear in the broader context.
Or wait did you mean the original episode? Same principle is suppose to apply, I think. Like I said, they tried to cram a few too many ideas in there.
