CrackedInkWell

"Inspiration does not come to the lazy. It only comes to those who call it." - P. I. Tchaikovsky

This story is a sequel to Inverno in F Minor

Warning: The following story is currently unedited and will contain classical music. The story is inspired by the anime show: ClassicaLoid. If you do not like those, you know where the exit button is. Also, since I'm trying to portray these composers as closely as to how they were, it only stands to reason that I put an M/M tag on (especially with three particular characters) Lully, Schubit, and Tchaicoltsky.

Cover art was created by Mix-up, aka amalgamzaku.

Taken place after the birth of Flurry Heart, Cadance and Shining tried to get their adopted son to interact with foals his age. But their son, Inverno, is easily bored with them so he decides to use magic to craft some friends that he wanted to have. So following the instructions of a mental resurrection spell from his biological father's (Sombra) he brings the minds of history's greatest composers back. However, they are immediately separated throughout Equestria. Inverno goes on a quest to recover these brilliant minds while discovering that they come back with something more than he could imagine.

Story dedicated to the voice actress and friend: MLPGal. To her, that has gone through much but still presses forward.

This is gonna be a wild ride of sequel :pinkiehappy:

omg read your blog post about this fic and was very intrigue by the concept!
I can relate to inverno on some level with opera...
a question/request - are you going to make Tchaicoltsky into a mare like what the anime adaption did to him or not?
i'd like to see a reaction from the composer or when he's hearing about a production of his famous 'Swan lake' being performed/done by stallions!
(https://youtu.be/fKc71-SEoiw) for I don't how far in advance you've planned out this story.

9031317
Short answer, no, I'm having him as a male. But I dare not reveal what he looks like or what he's going to do just yet. :raritywink:

9031847
*breathes sigh of relief* Oh thank you! okay, i can't wait for that moment:)

oh that was unexpected! (being somewhat totally accepting what inverno did.)
Wait Chopin and Liszt human counterparts were friends in real life or just for this story? i didn't know about this 0.0

9036059
I think they kinda were. I think there was a fall out at some point or another, I probably need to look closer into that.

Dan

Dabbling in Necromancy?

The Prof should play the kid some Dukas as a warning, if you get my drift.

(One Google search later.)

Okay, that's funny!

They were contemporaries and acquaintances. Maybe they were friends, maybe there was some professional rivalry and jealousy ala. Mozart and Salieri. Probably both.

They both were rumored to have courted https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Sand which probably caused friction.

Oh...my...god...this is my favorite character ever in this story! knowing about his life listening to bios on yt then being reborn as that 'creature' breaks my heart...I wanna hug him! a song goes comes to mind after reading the chapter (it's from two years ago and called mirror) https://youtu.be/e1lpDMOOp9s

Gustave Mahler as a deer. hmm very interesting...? the forest disappearing reminds of Lerner & Lowe's musical Brigadoon.

Dan

Does Inverno know about his dead siblings yet?

9052698
Oh he will, I just need to figure out the set up of how he finds out. And I think that when that news does reach him, Maneler should be there to bring him down to earth, so to speak.

Dan

They jump right to assuming he doesn't have balls. Haven't they ever heard of a countertenor? Or bargain-countertenor?

I think is't more that the students just see that there is something odd of his other absence of any immersing of any stallion features to him, and seeing that they didn't comment about his eyes I think they were just curious about albeit also goat him for a reaction, like any group of kids would.

Well those artists seem to be adjusting well to their new situation better then what I expected and see this as a second chance at a much better life for themselves.

But hold on, there are still a few I haven't covered.

sorry this chapter review is 3 weeks late. I was terribly distracted by other things.
of all the classical composers i've known about never heard of Lully. know of the sun king by watching documentary on yt & French musical le roi solei. I wonder how shining armor is going to respond when the group find/meet him?

Inverno rested by one of the wheels of the cars in which he leaned on. “Great, now I need to get help.”

For some reason I thought it said sleep... *facepalm*

Dan

The Red Priest has red fur, of course.

Okay, I've caught up. It's been a while since you've updated this story, so I'm going to take a shot in the dark and guess you're not sure what to do next. I'd like to offer up some ideas, if that's alright.

1. We haven't checked in with Beethooven for a while, where is he now?
2. Are any composers leaving Equestria to go back to their homes?
3. Is Lully searching for Shining Armor or heading to the Crystal Empire?

Also, a strange idea has popped into my head: would Paganeighni sympathize with Tchaicoltsky? One thought himself a pervert, the other many considered to be a devil; would there be a sort of understanding there, or am I reaching a bit?

P.S.: Which composer is your favorite to write about here, and why?

10084635
Okay, so first thing's first. I haven't abandoned this story altogether. Truthfully, I've been distracted by writing two stories at once, along with the writing assignments at school. But as much as I don't want to admit, you're kinda right as I'm not sure where to take this so the suggestions are actually really helpful for me. Thank you.

As to which is my favorite composer that I like writing about, honestly, I would have to say Tchaicoltsky because the way he's been set up, his personality, history and current circumstance screams to the heaves with potential. There's so much you can do with this guy and I love it!

Shining stopped. After a sigh, he rubbed his son’s head. “Kid, I’m not going to lie, there will be ponies out there that will be unnerved over your eyes. Not many ponies have the ones you have and not everyone is used to seeing them. But I know it’s unfair, especially to you that there will be ponies that will judge you on your appearance without getting to know you. It’s times like that you must be patient with them, and don’t get yourself down for being different.”

Why do I keep relating to Inverno so dang much?

Welp, I really like this new side of Shining Armor *giggles at the top of my lungs*

I absolutely love this story and it’s beginning! I pray this will be finished when you are able to (no rush) these stories as well as the songs in them and the anime “ClassicaLoid” have given me an interest in classical music so I thank you for that.

10657480
In a way, that's what I was going for.

Not to worry, recently I've started to edit the first few chapters (both to polish them up and get me back on track) so I may continue the story. It may take me a while, but rest assure, I am returning to finish this.

So glad to see this story continue. I can't wait to see where it goes from here.

Can't wait for the next chapter!

Well! It seems we may have a meeting between Tchaicoltsky and Beethooven! I look forward to that! And if Beethooven does start making film scores, I expect he would either likely become very popular very quick, or else fade completely into obscurity.

.... Film scoring can be incredibly thankless sometimes. Not speaking from experience.

Also, quick question, probably will be a yes: have you heard anything from Stephen Sondheim?

10795984
Stephen Sondheim is a musical theatre composer most famous for his scores for Sweeney Todd, Company, Merrily We Roll Along, and Into the Woods. Does that sound familiar?

10795996
Sweeney Todd and Into the Woods, I’m more familiar with those.

10796025
The main reason I ask is...... I get the feeing that the classical composers would either be impressed with his musical work, or absolutely hate him.

10796608
I guess it might depend on the composer. When it comes to Into the Woods, especially when it tries to juggle a ton of characters and stories where lite-motifs are a necessity, it seems like a nod to Wagner. But as to how the other twelve composers in this story may think of it... now, this is only a guess on my part, but here's how I think they might react to Into the Woods.

Lully, Vivaldi, and Bach would be off-put by the whole thing based on the fact that it's based on fairytales.

Mozart might have found the play fascinating, both on a story and musical level. Remember, this is the composer that came up with The Magic Flute, which I personally consider it as the first true musical in history where the music is mixed with dialogue. While some parts of the music would raise a few eyebrows from him, he would still find it intruiging.

Beethoven being Beethoven, he might say to Soundhime the same thing about Rossini: "I like your opera - I think I will put it to music."

Schubert would have fallen in love with the second act.

While I don't know about Chopin, for some reason I think he would have made a piano arrangement based on the song "Stay With Me."

Liszt would have been impressed in how despite all the stuff going on, that we can still comprehend it all thanks to part of the musical cues that are sprinkled throughout.

Tchaikovsky, I think, might find the fairy-tale aspect charming - even probably get a laugh with the jokes referring to Sleeping Beauty.

Mahler would probably find it okay, maybe room for improvement but alright.

And Debussy might have found it old fashion since he was trying to give France a musical identity of its own so the play he might not have cared for that much.

Poor Tchaicoltsky..I hope things will get better for him

10796924
We are still waiting for the next chapter.

11050141
There is a reason why I put this story on hiatus. Namely because there are currently several different other stuff that I have been dealing with lately. This includes real life, university classes with assignments, and having to juggle not just one but two people with different projects all at the same time. It’s gotten to the point where it’s next to impossible to even tackle stories like this when I got other people wanting my attention.

11050150
We hope you might get back to continuing the story if you have the time.

I know it's been a while, but seeing the Red Priest and the Devil's Violinist together in Ponyville is just too ironic! It's hilarious!

Before the yellow cowpony could finish, an explosive slam of the double swinging doors flew open, along with the shout of: “Get me your finest Lager, Herr Kommissar!”

If I had water right now, I would spit it out laughing! Such theatricality!

Three miracles of heaven, performed around the nation, each with a different tune. Very well done!

Seems Lully has discovered the meaning of the phrase "bad touch!"
