MorbidTheBrony

'Ello stranger. Welcome to my little cave. Boy, do I have a story to tell you...

T

This story is a sequel to Sunset Plays Cuphead

In tonight's episode, the girls have decided that they've had enough of video games and want to play cards. But what game to pick, they all asked. Cards Against Humanity? Nah, it's been done already. Monopoly? Hmm, maybe- Hey! Is that UNO?

This was inspired by Mythril Moth's legendary Cards Against Equestria Girls which is still one of my all time favourite FiMFics and I highly recommend you read that if you haven't already.

Hey, at least they played the real thing and not Ubisoft's shitty online version.

That was actually the original idea way back when, but I soon realised "Wait... that's a fucking horrible idea!"

Whoever gave the greenlight to release that buggy mess should be fired.

I haven't read it yet and yet somehow I get the feeling this won't end well...

Now I've read it and oh boy, I was right to be afraid. :rainbowlaugh:

This one of the most hilarious stories I’ve ever read :rainbowlaugh:

With the She-Demon gone, the game had no monster to bring out of Sunset...

This game, man... It changes you!

"Writes notes for future stories"

Card games are a great way to make enemies.

What an awesome story.

Needs a second game of Uno.. or they play DOS

Sunset was cheated. The other players only get until the next player starts their turn to call out a missed UNO.

Edit: That's the official rule, anyway. It could be house ruled to have no limit.

This game literally will bring out a new side of you, depending on how dirty it is, and then once someone wins everyone goes back to their friendly nature like it was nothing

Have to say Uno brings the family together in a harmony of cutthroat, backstabbing, kick'em when they're down... but loving ways. We've tried to keep at a monthly Uno game with the cousins and such despite Covid and other crap popping up. Certainly was an eye-opening moment for Sarah's boyfriend when he joined up that first time; such a happy family turned into spiteful monsters gleefully dropping +4's on each other with an evil grin. Oh dear, he had no idea what he was in for. :rainbowlaugh:

So, yeah, you play the darkest Cards Against Humanity with friends at a con but you play Uno with your family.

That'll be grounds for the Dark tag. :twilightoops:

My family's deck of UNO cards consists of two mixed sets of UNO. One is basically a regular pack but with the added wild cards which you can use to write down any house rule you like, but my family have always kept them blank so the person who puts down that card can do whatever they like on the spot. There's three of them in the deck, along with a Swap Hands card. Someone also thought it'd be funny to mix those with the "All Wild" cards, so now we have to pay attention to the blank side of the card so we know if there's another pesky Wild Card in the way of my devious plan to bring my sister's winning streak to an ugly demise... Ahem. But it's very interesting and very fun. Apart from the one time we decided to start a game with 20 cards each. That still gives me nightmares.

Never tried the All Wild deck since we just use two regular sets in one big deck. We also had some of those blank cards too; everyone swap hands with another player, "hail to the 9's" (Nien!) and discard them, and a discard all wilds to "defuse" the current field. Besides the usual out of turn match (anyone at any time can throw down an exact match on the top discarded card before the next card is played to test reactions, heh) we also use the +4 stacking rule (if you get the +4 and you have one, you can drop it and the next player gets BOTH +4's, repeat as needed for excruciating draws)... the high score was four stacks in a row for a final draw of 16 on that player who wasn't me. :trollestia:

My favorite variant is UNO Flip; since it uses both sides of the cards, being able to see the backs of the cards in everyone else's hands is a big part of the strategy. (It's also fun that the light side of the cards is nicer [draw is +1 and wild +2] and the dark side is meaner [skip becomes "skip all", which skips everyone else, draw is +5, and wild draw is "draw color"; the target has to draw until they get the chosen color].)

The all wilds set feels more like things to optionally mix into other sets rather than just to play on its own, but they have different backs so idk.

"Wait," Rainbow Dash suddenly said. "Did Sunset say UNO?"

You are on the hook only till the next player plays…

Was this a bad idea?

UNO it! :pinkiehappy:

11467380 The ponies learn all about how to be real estate tycoons! :yay:

And how to drive people into bankruptcy with corrupt rental agreements! :raritydespair:

Naturally, the first pony they target is the hick farmer background pony. :ajbemused:

:trollestia:

Funniest fimfic I’ve read in months! Nice work.😂

Just had a thought of the Eg girls pony counterparts be given a copy of Uno to play and to see how that turns out
