If you do want an explanation, the story is simply about Twilight messing up a time-stop spell which freezes everything but her. Leaving her stuck in a frozen world to find out how to undo the spell and get things back to normal. Something which takes her thousands of years battling to keep her sanity and find food, until she can finally find the answer. The story is told through bits of her notes and journals, while the ending is story style.
