You'd be surprised Sunset, just tell that to the internet and you'll see all the comics, doujins and artwork proving you wrong.
Now you are right about the franchise in general for a theater movie, this definitely would result in massive lawsuits. No way Hasbro or even Hollywood would be ok with this for a movie or toy sales, especially for children of all people, It's corporate suicide.
