A good story displays a moral, the best ones attach you to the characters who display them.

T

Something horrible has come to Equestria, and the ponies aren't sure what to make of it.

This is an amazingly faithful characterization of Thanos, not just the MCU version. Violence is a last resort to him, and even if he wants something from you, he will not try to take it by force unless you refuse him. And if Thanos makes you a promise, Thanos ALWAYS upholds his promises, even if only the letter of them.

And despite that, he is both the most evil and most petty villain in Marvel Comics.

High praise indeed! Thank you so much! :pinkiehappy:
I'm happy I was able to stay faithful to his character.

That was well written, a little short though.

Whelp, the galaxy is royally screwed.
At least Equestria is safe.

Interesting One shot i always to feel that to use the elements at full power one must need to have the Friendship connection just like the Mane six, however, I would personally use a more technological approach but that is a discussion for another day.

Unlike the infinity stones, the Equestrian elements of Harmony only balance the universe, so it's really up in the air what will happen, but I have a sinking feeling that super powers will most likely be the only thing that goes, so people like Tony Stark and Starlord would be the only ones left that can fight against the remaining villains.

At least Equestrian is(mostly) safe. I feel bad for the others though. Also, it may just be me but this could pass for E as there's no real violence or anything. Unless I'm missing something. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it.

That was pointless. Thanos felt very in-character, though.

His plan won't include Equestria?

*looks at Equestria* of course, the make their own resources, so they don't have a lack thereof, and so dom't need their population halved.

So, it's at random, minus Equestria. Interesting.

Thank you.

Well, I'm sure he'll adjust his plans accordingly... :twilightoops:
(I placed it as T just to be safe, but I might change it.)

8942831
Accurate enough, :rainbowlaugh:
Thank you!

Knowing Thanos? It's possible that he makes up for it by erasing an entire planet... :unsuresweetie:

Awesomeness! AND NO SPOILERS THANK YOU FOR THIS I think Thanos might be my favorite villian, I'm predicting~!

8943417
I thought you'd appreciate this, Sums! :raritywink::rainbowlaugh:
He's definitely my favourite villain in the MCU. :rainbowkiss:
<---- Obviously...

8943452
Haha, I actually had a dream about watching Infinity War last night, but it wasn't really it, but it was so weird. I saw this thumbnail the other day titled something like Thanos snaps his fingers, and I dreamt that he was snapping his fingers, and I was like whoa cause i only saw the title for like two seconds :rainbowderp:

8943505
Same, though when I woke up I had to get over my disappointment that it wasn't the real movie :rainbowlaugh: Felt like it though!

8943507
I know what you mean, Sums... I know what you mean. :rainbowlaugh::raritydespair::rainbowlaugh:

8942535
Well, he's not all that petty in the movie. He's quite dignified, unlike his comic counterpart who goes out of his way to be evil.

Thanos: A shame. A Harmony Stone...that would've made the culling so much easier.

It's already been said by others, but you really captured the character of Thanos in this piece. He's affable and charismatic, keeps his word, and yet is also subtly menacing underneath it all.

Top-notch work!

I like how you captured Thanos's simultaneously threatening and comforting nature. He won't destroy you if he doesn't have to, and he's not a backstabber.

One hopes that he'll keep his word not to interfere with Equestria...

"Our world will never see him again."

Don't count on it Celestia.

And the Elements of harmony were surrendered back to their place of origin back in season four. This fic takes place between seasons 1-3, since that's when the Elements were still individual pieces instead of being returned so that the Tree of Harmony wouldn't wither. Which was also when Twilight was still a Unicorn (not counting the season 3 finale, and Equestria Girls).

9024461
Perhaps, I just assumed it would be heavily, heavily implied.

9025071
Thanks,
And also thank you for the observation. I might appear a little confrontational, but I appreciate all input for future reference. :twilightsheepish:

Nope, she's right Thanos will never come back to Equestria. He's a lot of things but he keeps his word, Equestria has nothing he wants and fits the ideal of balance so he has no reason to return. In theory they might see him somewhere else, but not in Equestria.

I wonder if the missing Stone (Harmony) is the actual reason the Gauntlet is so difficult to control, to the point of consuming the user's lifespan (I guess Thanos endured it better than Stark by virtue of being a Titan).

10102158
nah, the infinity stones are just so powerful that the only ones who can truly control them are those who don't need them in the first place.

I can just imagine Sunset writing to Princess Twilight in a panic and Twilight has no idea what's going on.

10102680

“I hope you appreciate the sacrifice I’m making here…”
This phrase makes more sense that way. Thanos is willing to keep his word even if it costs him his life.

8942535

His motivations are always stupid: saving the universe from overpopulation (by wiping half of the people and the resources) or trying to show off to Lady Death (even if she has left clear she is really not interested ( to the point of granting him immortality as the ultimate "restraining order").

10102723
Honestly, his life wasn't the sacrifice implied by that line.
