I saw this posted while I was at work, and I'm super excited to have finally read it! Can I just say, I loved that you brought Twilight into the picture—it really feels thematically right. And as an eternal fan of world-building, I really enjoyed what you did with earth pony magic here!

Thank you so much for writing! It might be silly for me to say, but it really does makes me feel special! :twilightsheepish:

Thank you for the kind words.

I had done some research for a "Carrot Top teaches Twilight how to grow carrots" story before I drew your name in the Switcheroo. After reading Shoots and Roots, it was easy to determine which of your stories to write a sequel for.

Interestingly, I didn't end up using hardly any of the research. :twilightsheepish:

Such is the plight of the fanfiction author! I remember once I did a couple of hours of research into the relative melting points of a dozen or so metals for a scene I wrote with a dragon. Never did use any of that info, but hey, research is like half the fun of coming up with a neat idea!

I do love a story where earth pony magic os a central feature. This was rather rough at times—a lot of unnatural-feeling expository dialogue and rather rushed pacing—but it has a lot of heart and some great ideas at work. Thank you for it.

That was a very sweet follow-up to “Shoots and roots”!
