ItchyStomach

I'm just another socially awkward introvert from Central-Europe who likes supererogatorily long words.

E

I was born a changeling. I was given a false set of memories, set on an espionage mission amongst ponies, then made to forget it all. When the time came to remember, I was exposed, and they failed me. They expected I will return to them, but I refused, and sided with the enemy. Now I must figure out a way to never let them rule over me again. Also, being a changeling is just too weird for me.

Huge thanks to my proofreader, Algoroth, for fixing my grammar and pointing out some logical discrepancies.

Covert art was done by me.

I can't help but imagine that this was happening somewhere during the invasion:

Alright, an good start, I'll keep an eye on this story.

Interesting, I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

Btw,

realization that my ascend wasn’t fast enough

She released a telekinetic trigger to activate your memories

shouldn't this be telepathic?

Thank you, you're right on both accounts.

I like this so far.

He gave me a perplexed look, then coked his head.

Not one guard happened to be in our path, but there were at least three buck after us already.

Hussk was not to making catching us easy.

"was not to making"? This sounds strange.

Whoops it seems my proofreader could use a proofreader of his own. Thanks for pointing these out.

Poor Pearly.

As I laid a hoof on the first step it let out a creek, and the talking cut out at once.

Man, this guy just cant catch a break.

The End

Wait what?
*checks the activity. Sees that it now says completed*

WHAT!?!? :pinkiegasp:

I DEMAND A SEQUEL!!! :trollestia:

Welp it’s the end. Great story.

9013547
I'm not making any promises regarding a sequel, but I'm happy you enjoyed my work!

9018593
I would very much enjoy seeing this story get a sequel.

She held up a hoof. “Oh, it’s okay, really. I don’t mind having you here, I just thought you’re gonna sleep somewhere else after all, but if you need a place now, there is nothing in the way. Why, though? Did something happen? Was it that poor changeling?”

I think she maybe knows but feels bad for how the changelings are being treated. Maybe. We'll see.

Hearing her name, her ears flattened to her skull and she took a step back. Then recognition flashed across her face and she edged closer, looking me over with fresh interest. “Wait a minute. Are you... perhaps… a friend of… the pony staying in this room?”

Hahaha yup saw this coming

“I mean,” she elaborated, leaning forward ever so slightly, only adding to the effect. “I want to see the changeling beneath. I’ve only seen pictures and plushies of them. Can you do that for me?”

...plushies?

She met my eyes now, but I had a feeling she was only admiring my work. Her hoof kept stroking my mane, then wandered onto my cheek. Under different circumstances, it would have been pleasant. “With enough time, I bet I wouldn’t be able to distinguish between the real me and the fake me, but once you’d had enough of me, you could throw me away and become the real Pearly, couldn’t you?”

Uh... does Pearly have some weird fetishes I should know about?

Uh... did I miss an explanation for why he has his memories...? It was "interrupted", but... by what? That was never made clear.

Great story, though.

Now that you mentioned the interruption, I went back and checked, and you're right. There was an explanation for it in my notes, but I never fully developed it. Gotta go back and fix it sometime, thanks for pointing it out.
And regarding his memories, they were put in his head by Chrysalis in the past. Is that what's got you confused?

9149231
No, I was just confused with him keeping them after the recollector was put on him (and I guess that confusion was justified, lol)

I've read many, many stories just like this one, but for some reason, I never get tired of them. This is indeed one of the good ones, too.

Very nicely done.

It's been a long time since I found a changeling fic with this sort characterization and tone to it. I think the last time was either Fragments or Without a Hive, both of which I read at least three years ago.

This time her eyes focused on mine for good. “I know, silly.” She smiled and squeezed my leg. Her dreamy eyes told me was still under the effect of what happened. “Thanks. You just supplied a year’s worth of freaky dreams.” She leaned closer and touched her forehead against mine. “I could use some sleep right now to see some of them.”

I think by freaky she means kinky. :trollestia:

F:yay:CK YOU CHRYSABITCH!

You should have seen the first draft of that scene. It wasn't quite so family friendly.

A solid story that deserves more attention. The plot point of what exactly is going on with his pre-pony past and Chrysalis stopped short of being fully answered, but it doesn't really detract from the story. We found out enough to paint the broad strokes of what is relevant to his current existence.

Good Job. I'll look if there's a sequel.

Quadruple whiplash.

“If you are willing to help us further, Sergeant Cheval will be ready to accept your inputs.”

... Sergeant "Horse"?
