Warning: contains sensitive topics like bullying, slight gore, and PTSD.
Note: slight 'what if' scenario.

In the aftermath of the Anon-a-Miss scandal, Fluttershy suffers from it the most. It has not only affected her school work, but it has also affected how she behaves. Following an incident where she had punched another student, she is given a week's detention with the one person she didn't expect: the guidance counselor Discord. She had heard the rumors, but she's uncertain whether or not they were true. Still, she decides to give him a chance in order to make up for not giving Sunset Shimmer another chance when she had the opportunity.

Slight Sunset Shimmer x Fluttershy.

While i do love this story, i still find the punishments Luna and Celestia gave to the CMC pathic.
They should been separated from each other.
We could at least learn what punishments they suffered at home.

Thanks for mentioning that and I agree, six months is a mild punishment for committing the act of cyber-bullying. If anything, either suspension or expulsion would work best.

Wow.... That one really hit all the emotions. Wow, just wow. I honestly never expected the twist of Sunset bringing a actual gun to school and using it to boot, that one took me by surprise. Sadly relevant in today's world though. But possibly one of the only in-school shooters I can sympathize with, given what led up to the event. Honestly though, great piece and I don't really say that a lot about Anon-A-Miss related fics.

Can you do one on the CMc in the aftermath? Because I'm sure Sunset will not want to face them or do anything with them and love for her to tell the elder sisters of this very clearly.
Driving in to their heads how badly they screwed up.

Also while i'm glad for the ending i still think it was too easy, Sunset hanging with them from the start after she leaves the courthouse seem too cheerful for ehr to be with them.

Fluttershy yes the others no. She did state it be awhile before she forgives the others.

First of all, thank you very much. Second of all, I know exactly what you mean. Some of the Anon-a-Miss fics I've seen all have a bit of realism in them, but it's still too much in some places and most of them were incomplete series.

I admit that I kinda left the Crusaders in the dust with that one. I will have to make a side project regarding that part and any other parts of stories that I could potentially miss. And the path to forgiveness is not always a straight path. Sometimes just taking the first step makes the whole journey just a good bit easier for everyone.

Honestly, most of the Anon-A-Miss fics are a bit too real, and a bit too dark for my tastes. I mean, FIMfic is supposed to be a escape, you know?

Exactly. I honestly thought I would be beating a dead horse if you pardon the pun.

Yeah, I know what you mean.

It could have been worse for Snips. I'm reminded of this

I can't speak for everyone but myself, but I think the reason for the reality and darkness in the Anon-a-Miss stories is due to the exact nature of the event. Because bullying is so tramatic, victims may change and take different paths to escape. (Madness is the emergency exit: Joker from Batman the Killing Joke)
It's easy to put youself in the situation and substutite characters as a writer sees needed. One of the best A-a-M stories I've read was Goodnight Sunset, Good Morning Sunrise by Twilight Nightmare. It starts in a similar way, but changes for the best.

8817968
How is any further punishment warranted given six months detention is equal to or greater than what Sunset received for her far, far, larger list of transgressions (including the exact same cyberbullying)?

8819391
Goodnight Sunset, Good Morning Sunrise is not a Anon-A-Miss fic, are you thinking of someone else? Because that might of interest.

And why would Sunset pulling a school shooting make them believe her innocence? I can't see how it would have anything but the opposite effect on her trustworthiness? It avoids the normal pitfalls of Anon-A-Miss fics save to make an important enough point to warrant such, I want to like it, but this one issue on what's the key part of the story doesn't make sense unless I missed something.

I disagree, Sunset done some bad stuff, and the cyberbullying think you got the wrong version. She did use testing but not to slander or humiliate the five girls. She simply mislead them each...ONCE! And that was enough fr them to break things off so easily.
If you are referring to the fall formal event with Twilight....yeah it called Politics a smear campaign.

Yeah it was a terrible thing to do, but the CMC did fifty times worst.

Two the shooting it wasn't to prove Sunset was innocent, she just lost it and went crazy, she felt she couldn't return home as she was in exile already,
Twilight's advice failed, all and everything she did to try and prove she changed was destroyed over two posts, and things got worst.
She tried to get the girls to listen and it failed, they threw her away.
She snapped.

It could gone ethier her running away, shooting herself or going on a rampage.
She made a bad choice, but she was DRIVEN to it.

The shock and actions she took, made them wake up, Fluttershy was already realizing they may of been wrong, afterwards sure it made ehr have the courage to speak up firmly.
They thought about it and the clues finally came to light, Piggy nickname only family knew it and the girls after Bloom said it, and the dresses Sweetie was in the house of course.

Confrontation happened and the truth finally came out.

I see how the shooting would make them realize Sunset's innocent. I still disagree with the logic or means, but I understand enough to go along with it. Thank you for clarifying that.

I still don't see how what the CMC did was worse than Sunset.

The CMC framed Sunset to break their friendship and used cyberbullying for weeks at most (probably less given this takes place over the holiday). Sunset framed the Main 5 to break their friendship and used cyberbullying for years, implying this method was her modus operandi. That's not getting into all the others things she did (physical bullying, the "raging she-demon").

The math on the time spent wrongdoing alone equals Sunset's actions being 50 times worse than the CMC's. The CMC's only seem worse because we're shown the consequences of their actions in the comic unlike in the movie, but there's no reason to assume it was any better under Sunset. And the "raging she-demon" thing alone, it would be absurd to punish the CMC any worse than what Sunset was for that, which per the moons = months theory, was six months...

It just occurred to me you might have misunderstood and assumed I was just referring to Sunset breaking the Human 5 up as opposed to all her wrongs.

8822269
Where does it say she did cyberbullying for years? Where in the movie or so has it been implied?
also you seem to be looking for any reason to mess with the story setting and idea honestly.

Two Sunset did split the school up, but into groups, The CMC split the entire school up in to a raging bunch of chaos.
Everyone was against each other, the only reason the school didn't turn into all out war, was they all blamed Sunset as the target.
Just what the CMC wanted, they wanted Sunset to take all the hate and blame over some petty jealousy.

not excusing Sunset's crimes, BUT she tried to undo the damage and show she changed.
she endured hatred and torment and rejection except for five of the students.
She never fought back, she just took it as a mean to show she was different.

that and if she did fight back everyone would assume she was bullying again no matter what.
that didn't matter to the CMC, they wanted her gone and went out of the way to do so, and tore the entire school apart to do it.

Worst then Sunset ever done before worst then even the Dazzlings.

8822309
I'm not trying to "mess with the story setting and idea". You've answered the one issue I had with it to satisfaction. Thanks again for that.

Cyberbullying may be the wrong way to phrase what Sunset did, but spreading misinformation, slander and embarrassing things about her enemies is what she did over the years. Even if, for all we know, she never bullied any one person this badly, it still adds up to at least as much wrongdoing.

And the CMC did not do all that to frame Sunset, just the first two instances, then the school pressured them into continuing, a hypocrisy this fic point out. And the the CMC also "tried to undo the damage" by confessing to it once they realized how out of hand it got (even if it's just to get off easier, it still more common and moral sense than anyone else in the school sans Sunset displayed) and accepting the harshest punishment any redeemed antagonist has faced in the franchise.

After the first movie, it took till the next installment for Sunset to convince us she was sincere and deserving of redemption, which she did so well it's the reason we're pissed as the CMC. It would hypocritical not to give CMC the same benefit of the doubt we gave Sunset and the school was in the wrong for not giving her.

Oh, Demon Sunset and the Dazzlings had brainwashing and world domination as an endgame. That's...worse than what the CMC wanted.

Breathing a sigh of relief, she turned off the alam and got ready for the day ahead.

You typed alam when you should’ve typed alarm.

Thanks for pointing that out.

nice job on story:twilightsmile:

I’m honestly surprised sunset was arrested that barely ever happens in fics.

Dude, you’re wasting your breath. People will defend and be biased towards sunset for anything.

Believe me, I just wanted to make light of a route that could happen when someone is pushed too far. Most things could be avoided if someone noticed the signs at the earliest. As the old saying goes, 'you reap what you sow'.

11592641
True. I just wish that didn’t only apply to sunset.
