Rambling Writer

Our job is not to give readers what they want; our job is to show them things they never imagined. --Walt Williams

In the middle of a rocky patch in her life, Cobblestone briefly strikes up a conversation with a mare at a bar. But as the mare leaves, Cobblestone notices her personality and speech patterns change completely whenever she's confronted with someone else. Curious, Cobblestone follows after her and finds she's not even scratching the surface on the mare's social camouflage.

Inspired by William Gibson's "The Belonging Kind".

The Belonging Kind, but with changelings? I wonder just how far this inspiration goes.

I wonder if the protag turns into a changeling by the end...

Not bad, but the story seems to be held back by the inspiration.

Oooo, I like how this is going. I’m goin in, see you on the other side!

Oh, that’s the end? While I was expecting this to end a little differently it is still a good place for it. I enjoyed the ride, thanks!

I liked it. I can see the where you got inspiration from Gibson's story. I was expecting the end to come a bit later, but I guess I can see why it ended where it did.

A surprisingly compelling story, I kind of want more but it’s complete as is. Good work!

I loved this. It’s the kind of story I badly wish continued for longer – I really wanna see her succeed. Not a bad candidate story for a continuation, if you ever feel like it. As it is, I’m sad there isn’t more, but I’m happy with what there is. Thanks.

This is the kind of story that I feel deserves a sequel. I definitely like the concept of an unreformed changeling seeking out help to reform from ponies.
