Velvet's Story

It was just another rainy day in Canterlot when Twilight, Shining, Cadence, and Flurry Heart came to visit Twilight Velvet and Nightlight. "Ah," says Twilight Velvet as they enter the house, "it's good to see all of you again. Now, who wants to hear some of my old stories?"

"Ah do," says Flurry with a smile.

"Okay," responds Twilight Velvet. She invites the others to sit down with her on the cushions on the floor and she begins her tale. "You may not know this, but I used to be a Disneigh princess in the Disneigh parks. I was Princess Snow Veil. I had the time of my life in that role. I really did. I had also tried out for Marepunzel and Mareida but the performer selection panel saw me best as their main princess, Snow Veil, and I happily agreed. Two days later, I began training and within a few months, I was acting in the parks. I did shows, parades, photo pass, all of it. I did Princess Lunches for all the little fillies as well. I soon formed close bonds with the other performers within the parks, especially the two mares that played Marepunzel and Mareida. Their names were Holly Bell and Maturnica High-hoof. We became the best of friends. I also soon became super close friends with the mares behind Tiamare, Monamare, Fillidella, Aumora, Mariel, Melle, Jasmare, and Marelan. I even became close friends with the mare that played Maregara. Their real names were Josephine, Jaeia, June Flower, Daffodil, Sunshine Ray, Melody, Tilly, and Graceful Song-Gracie we called her. Everypony absolutely adored her. I still stay in touch with them to this day. We still hang out as well."

"Wow!" says Twilight. "That's amazing mom!"

"That's so cool!" says Shining, eyes widening.

"Sure is," says Cadence. "Tell us more. Flurry is entertained." Velvet nods and goes and grabs her Disneigh cast album and brings it over, sits down, pops it open, and continues the story.

"Over the next few weeks, I was in every single parade and show along with the other princesses. I did every photo pass they had as well. I was their Disneigh Darling. I was their star. Every time we got downtime, though, I and the other princesses and Meg, we'd all go and hang out and have a blast together." Velvet pulls out a picture of her and her fellow cast mates and shows it to the children. "That is me right there in the center in the blue and yellow outfit with the red ribbon in my mane. The red ribbon was the best part of the costume especially since I didn't have the shortest mane in the world. I remember one time, I had a little filly that came up to me. She had cancer and wanted a picture with me after the line had closed and I agreed. After that, she walked away with a smile on her face. That was my all-time favorite memory whilst working in the park. It always feels good to make a child's day like that." She then shows the children that picture. "See, that's me and the little filly. I still remember her name, her name was Miracle. She passed away maybe a month after that picture was taken and that broke my heart. Our Disneigh branch opened up a fund for the Ponyville Cancer Society under her name after that, which I thought was so sweet. I'll never forget her."

"Any other stories you remember from your time there?" asks Shining curiously.

"Yes," responds Velvet with a smile, "I remember one time when a mouse got into Tiamare's dress. We couldn't help but laugh when that happened. After a few minutes of giggles, we did help her get settled down and get the mouse out of her dress. That was the most I've laughed in my entire life. She absolutely hated it though. Another memory that is very vivid in my mind was from three years before I left the park. It was just a normal day when we heard it, "Mixie Mouse is on fire! Mixie Mouse is on fire!" We all started flipping out and went and grabbed the fire extinguishes and began to help try to put out the fire in the fursuit. It was pure insanity. Eventually, the fire department had to come and hose down the suit. They then tossed her suit and got her a brand new, updated suit. After that, all the fursuits were updated to have fire retardant material under the fur layer. The cast member that played her was out for several months with severe fire burns after that. During that time, I played her role on top of playing Snow Veil, which I didn't mind at all. I was glad to help Molly out. I remember another story from my times in the park, this time it was from my very first day as Snow Veil. I was just walking to my photo pass stop when I was pulled over to the side by a grown stallion with a very long mustache and he tried to kiss me right there. I told him to stop so he wouldn't listen so I eventually called my manager and the security guys and they pulled him off me and escorted me to the photo pass stop I was assigned to that day. I was utterly humiliated. Needless to say, that stallion was never allowed back in the parks after that. Man! was I relieved when I heard that! Then there's a story from my fifth day in the parks as Snow Veil. It was a normal day and I was heading off to help with the Princess Lunch along with the other princesses and Marepunzel tripped over her braid. Luckily, we caught her or she would've broken something. After the lunch came to an end, I and the others went and bought Marepunzel an ice cream and then we spent the rest of our break telling jokes and laughing together before parting ways. It was great and it definitely cheered her up." She pulls out another picture of all of them sitting with Marepunzel as she enjoys her ice cream cone. "Working there was always the best time for me. Sure there were creepers on occasion, but those were rare. There were good moments too, like when I took pictures with that little filly that had cancer. I miss that park, that job. Alas, I had to give it up when I turned twenty-five as that was the rule. I still miss my Disneigh family, but at the same time, I'm glad I get to see them every so often. We even go and cheer on the new, younger mares that have taken on our roles. We're so proud of them. They are doing an amazing job." She then shows them the picture of her, her fellow former princess friends, and the new Disneigh princesses. She smiles as she watches her children and granddaughter look at the pictures. She's so glad she was able to share a part of her life story with her family. To her, that means the world.

This is fun idea for a story, but you really need to break up Velvet's reminiscences, and put them down into more manageable paragraphs. I enjoyed reading her recollections about working as Snow Veil, but the sheer size of the paragraphs made them into a wall of text that could put off other readers.

But still, I think this was a cute read, and I'm glad I found this story. Just needs a bit of polish, I think.

Thanks for the advice. I was trying to get the idea out before it left my mind, so I was speed typing and didn't think about spacing. I'll slow down next time. Thanks for the tip.

If this story gets to 10 likes, I will start early on the full-blown story of Velvet's life as a Disneigh Princess. Ok!!!

Okay... it's a good concept, but SHOW!!! DON'T TELL!!! Break it up into a collection of flashbacks.
