As we all know, there has always been a long-standing rivalry between the Cutie Mark Crusaders and the bullies Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon.
It's been a while since the crusaders obtained their cutie marks. Since then, they have been going around not just ponyville, but a lot in other places of Equestria too to fulfill their destiny: Finding the destiny of other ponies around them.
Because of all this, Diamond Tiara felt a bit guilty for everything. So, one day, she finally had the courage to confess it to the three fillies.

I’ll be honest – for me, it felt that everyone was acting grossly out of character
DT crying just like that? Um… nope – reformed or not, Diamond Tiara we know from the show would not break down that easily (if there were some build-up before that could have worked but…). Same goes for Silver Spoon (although with her, there was at least some build-up).
CMCs behavior also struck me as odd (one moment, they are considering if they should accept the apology at all, and seconds later they are like ‘Sure! Let’s be friends! Yay!’), and AB sounded too… serious (OK, she is the most serious of the gang, but still…).
Of course, this is just my humble opinion, others may disagree
