Is it me or the CMC have a crush on Spike?
This tale does great in sharing what, to me, should be shared at some point in the show itself. This being that part of Celestia that was Spike's mother.
The concept of her being afraid of hot air balloons is fun. I don't think I'd like being in a floating confined space either. Having the ability to move freely through flight is nice but knowing you are just 'there' for a long time can be kind of nerve-wracking.
The fear of the hot air balloon also did well in relating with Spike's fear of the storm at night. It's easy to be brave in some situations but have others that just don't feel quite right. Even the most powerful have their fears.
Nice way to bridge the gap on how Princess Luna became able to do a good job in helping ponies in the dream realm. I honestly never thought of how hard it would be to just suddenly start visiting dreams where your figure is associated with a very frightening character from, what was once known only as, folklore.
I like how Cadence was shown as Spike's first crush. It's quite believable as Cadence would've been around a lot to help care for Twilight from time-to-time.
Sweet ending. Celestia in mom mode with Spike is awesome!
