It would explain why the Pony's would have been given a expensive army long before the Clone Wars itself. Sidious played the long game. Plus in reality the Confederation itself did have valid greivences. It was just that Dooku led them for his own ends rather than for the Confederations eventual victory. Imagine if one if his goals had been to turn Luna and Celestia to the Dark Side as new acolytes.

Very valid points. I don't want to spoil too much, but perhaps it was given to them by a Trade Federation member by the orders of Sidious to not only give them a good relationship with the ponies, but also a possible back up army to fall back on with later allies.

Well that doesn't seem right as they were more often than not deployed with the B1 series. Were there any other droids given like the Dwarf Spider Droid and such or just the droids the Trade Federation used?

Of course, though when Celestia was given these battle droids, this was about a year before the Battle of Naboo, so the other droids one would have seen in the clone wars would have not been thought of or obtained by the Confederacy yet.

But the Tactical Droid was built and (possibly designed) during the Clone Wars while the Super Tactical Droid was designed and built during the Clone Wars.
