9-5? No thanks!

All was going ordinarily well until Icelandic airspace was reached, that was when it all changed.

An unexpected volcanic eruption followed by dual engine failure and the sudden teleportation into Equestria all happen at once, the pilots of the Airbus A318 under the callsign Golf Echo Bravo are speechless, not only are they gone from earth, but they find themselves in a country inhabitated by mostly ponies. The stay was certainly unexpected, but now they face the reality they may never return home.

Back on earth, an international investigation team is scrambled between Iceland, France and the United Kingdom, however even they find themselves dumbstruck at the case initially. Progress is slow, but over time, interesting pieces begin showing up along the way.

The puzzle unravels slowly, as the adventure follows both an Equestrian & Earthly POV.

The sight of a giant (relatively speaking) commercial airliner flying must be crazy for the ponies. Seeing such a huge machine in the air without any kind of balloon to hold it up must really be a sight to behold for someone who has never seen such a thing before.

Don't worry. CNN will be right there.

Isn't there already a story like that? With an A380

I don't know if there is, but if there is then I had no idea it existed.

Hmm... you couldn't possibly be talking about my story, perhaps?

It's called Slipstream, and features an A380. I'd link it, but it's M rated, so site rules wont allow it.

As it turns out, there is a story like this. But as the author, 8750043, just pointed out, it's... a bit more mature than this one. :rainbowlaugh:

Previously I had no idea your story existed up until then. Nor how to find it. But, from what I've been told here it seems quite interesting.

I'll make sure to check it out and maybe even leave a comment.

So far this story seems pretty good. Will follow and see how things unfold

"Thank you for introducing yourself Timothy, as you may already know I am Princess Celeste, ruler of Equestria," said Celestia.

I’m sure an A318 flying would look crazy to the ponies, such a huge machine, heavier than air, that can fly. Just imagine if they saw an A380. They’d probably think it’s the apocalypse with such a gigantic piece of engineering flying over their heads. I doubt any pony could even comprehend just how many people, how fast, and how far it can fly.

I guess I should stop proof-reading after 8 PM. Thanks for noticing this mistake, I'll correct it right away.

Seeing something as heavy as an an A318 fly would be incomprehensible to the ponies, seeing as the all their flying machines are lighter than air. As for the lack of fuel issue, well, the ponies probably know what crude oil is, and maybe they know how to distill it, but definitely not to the quality of modern jet fuel.

It is great to see a "The Odyssey of Flight 33"-like scenario for a First Contact to Equestria fic! :yay:
Really looking forward to see more of the interaction between the Golf Echo Bravo's crew and the ponies. I can't wait to see Twilight applying what she learnt!
I wonder what the investigators on Earth found...

There is, but this is already better

Hey everyone, part time pony here.

Sorry for the recent lack of updates to the story. I've been busy with irl school and other things.

Anyway, I won't bore you guys with excuses. Chapter 5 is pretty much ready and will be published some time soon, C6 is in the works and I'll hopefully have this storey finished by the new year. If not I'll just continue working on it through 2021!

Have a nice day/night and see you guys soon.

Is this a cargo plane or are there passengers?

Airbus A318 (passenger plane), though it's empty with the exception of the two pilots.

*Very* interesting so far. The idea of someone else pulling a "Odyssey of Flight 33" is a good one.
Curious to see how the Earth side of the story will realize what happened...
First contact soon?

everything happened too fast. there was so many opportunities for our pilots to work together and for us to get to know who they are and how they work together that were passed over. nothing horrible, but the whole lead up to and shut down of the engines should have been described in full... common man, that's a pants change moment for any pilot I'm sure! instead it was glazed over with barely a thought, same as the engine reignition and regaining control, glazed over. eh, just my 2 cents...

Thank you for the feedback.

I recognize the part in which everything went too fast, I'm actually inclined to agree with you. Unfortunately, younger me from 17/18 does not. Whether I will rewrite the early chapters or not is a question for another time, however, your opinion is noted.

Also, your username sounds familiar.. can't put my finger on it though.

thank you for being one of the few people who knows what airbuses say when the gpws is activated against what boeings say

"Hello, I am Squadron Leader Messerschmitt from the Royal Pegasus Corps, Princess Celestia was wondering whether you and your friend could come to her," Messerschmitt said.

hehehe wonder how he would react to being told about the bf-109 and the bf-110
