A pink big boy. Now that would something to see. I think the only thing I would change on a big boy would be to add a streamlined shell on it.

Yeah, that really would be something. This scene was pretty spontaneous, although its inspiration came from one of only 2 other stories that I've found on here that has a Big Boy Locomotives. That story is called "Smokestack Lightning." It's about Big Boy 4014 winding up in Equestria after it's restoration. The story is incomplete, and has been sitting for several years now, but there was a scene in there with Rarity complaining about 4014's "ugliness". I liked that scene so much, that I decided to do a similar one with my story.

Also, Rarity vs. 4009 is not quite over yet. In the next chapter, I learn that after Dash dragged me to safety, Rarity tried to pain the Big Boy again, but instead got a nasty surprise! What happened? Well, keep reading, and you'll see!

And actually, this scene is based on a similar scene from a story called "Smokestack Lightning", where Big Boy 4014 ended up in Equestria after her restoration was complete, though she had no crew onboard. Rarity acted similar in that story, but there, it was just talk. Here in "BE", it goes a few steps further. However, Rarity was mostly just talking to herself, and the engine. Sure, she might have had a plan for the engine, but naturally, she lacked the actual tools needed to do it, and even if Leopard hadn't stopped her, someone else would have. She got so carried away with how "ugly, gray, and utilitarian Big Boy was that she lost sight of Reality for a moment. Leopard showed her the errors of her ways.....at least until she starts chasing him trying to give HIM a makeover instead, but thankfully he's saved by Rainbow Dash.

And as you'll see in the next Chapter, Rarity does try one last time to paint Big Boy pink, but the engine itself rebels against this in a funny way, and Rarity never tries to touch the Big Boy again after that!

Dash pouted. "Hmph! All I was trying to do was say that I was sorry! You didn't have to be so mean!"
