The Summer Sun Celebration has come to Ponyville once more. Last year's celebration didn't go quite as planned, what with Eternal Night being only narrowly averted, so this year they're going to extra lengths to make sure it goes smoothly.

Note: this fic takes place in an AU where Twilight hasn't become an alicorn yet; basically as if the next SSC happened mid-season 3 instead of later on. A friend wanted to see a more slice of life version of how things might've turned out.

Well, she is the big cheese.

Good luck convincing Pinkie it isn't directly from the moon.

So much fate tempting... so little actually wrong yet....

And still not clear on what Twilight's actually supposed to be doing.

At last, the first domino falls...?

“On it!” Pinkie curled up into a ball and began to roll down the road.

Good to see Bon Bon, at least, has a professional head on her shoulders. Even if it's too late for her to do anything....

Ah well, at least they’re managing to pull some things together.

Since they have a little more forethought, Twilight might have actually been able to scope out somewhere to put the cake and teleport it properly this time. Oh well. Something would no doubt have gotten in the way anyway.

Finally I have the time this deserves!

Ah, a worrier’s work is never done. But Twilight and company have certainly earned a rest.

Like I said, they’ve earned it.

“The traditional royal gift!” Luna beamed. “A five hundred pound cheese wheel!”

That's actually really generous. Finer cheeses are still really expensive, even more so back in Luna's day, and five hundred pounds of cheap cheese would still be worth a lot of money. I must wonder: is it customary for royals to gift that much cheese, or is it just customary to bring something of value?

“Where did you teleport the cakes to?”

Twilight froze. “Oh, no.”

I bet she teleported the cakes into/on top of the Royal Gift, destroying/ruining all of them. Barring that, she teleported the cakes on top of Luna.

“Well, Trixie couldn’t have a giant burned spot where she was going to perform, so she built it behind her…..oh.”

Dammit Ditzy, why would you put anything on top of or next to a fire.

But the question begs

Which type of Cheese?

really cute story!!
