Silk is delicate in that the fabric can easily be disrupted, but it's extremely hard to actually tear. Silk is so strong it's actually bulletproof, although it isn't used in that way because it's expensive, and if you don't have enough layers then a bullet will just drag it right through you without penetrating the fabric.
Also: Vampires have no reflection in myth because silver is the metal of purity, and the metal of purity can't show evil. Mirrors used to use silver as their reflective surface. Modern mirrors are typically aluminium.
The same goes for cameras - the film used silver nitrate as its photosensitive material, and as the metal of purity can't show evil it couldn't take a picture of a vampire.
Silver being the metal of purity is also why silver hurts lycanthropes.
People don't tend to know about those aspects of the myths, but now you do.

Thanks for the info on silk, I knew it could be strong yet I didn’t know it could be that strong.
As for the supernatural yeah I’m pretty well versed, moreso than most. But this story expands on a preestablished universe already by Dennis the Menace who wrote “My Roommate is a Vampire” so I have to follow his incarnation of them. So here while garlic, and silver work Vampires are not soulless monsters so they do have reflections. Religious items don’t work either, and sunlight is more an irritation to them than anything. Plus they don’t have longevity in this universe. I’d suggest go reading the original fic before reading this, it’s well worth it!
