When Grand Pear finally decides to come back to Ponyville to meet the family he never knew he had, he hope that things will work out in his favor. And he hoped that his grandchildren will forgive him.

This was nice and sad at the same time; but then again it's suppose to be I bet this is something that did happen in the shows canon that the writers/Hasbro would not show to us in the show at all. It's sad that this happened to Grand Pear, but he brought this on himself; but I don't put all the blame on him since I do put this on Granny Smith as well; I lost a lot of respect for her.

Honestly I feel like Granny Smith let Grand Pear off too easy when he decided to come back after all those years. She of all ponies would remember how distraught poor Pear Butter must've been after her father left. At the same time, the verbal lashing Granny Smith could have given Grand Pear was probably too much for the show's age rating.

Well, they certainly picked the right actor for the character. Shatner's pissed away a lot of his own life being a massive jerk to those around him and he's worse off for it.

I'm not sure how I feel here, because with the exception of opening paragraph it was as scripted in the show. Then there is this https://edowaado.deviantart.com/art/The-Life-I-Never-Had-688426037 So while written competently it's basically transcription of preexisting material.
