Is the machine that turned them into machines going to learn "Friendship"? Its kind of weird that it made the effort to say Thank you in equestrian.
The best relationships seem forged strongest from shared adventure, and what more exciting of an adventure than death?
It feels like the term "thrashing" would apply better than screams, but after all the interrupts were loopback bound so it works fine.
Activating telekinesis should have peaked interest from the AGI, if it weren't so focused on not focusing.
Keep going! ;)

Is it weird though? It has observed the two PONI becoming happy when they started communicating like that. Seeing as their progression into learning the protocol is slow at best there's no reason not to pursue actions that would foster higher compliance rates.
8597991 AI are learning machines after all.
8598006 The TK might have gotten some interest, yes.
Interesting to see that Jetset and Crust could have taken the chance to take over of the interrelation for themselves and presenting the technologies to the rest of pony kind and provide them a semblance of the old lives and freedom again. Still the act of mercy on their part did yielded a completely unexpected result for both parties, saving the AGI, after all what it did to them was pretty big risk, and grudges would normally run hight for anyone in a similar position, and would be perfectly understandable and justified in not lifting a finger to the AGI, especially sense it could have just had continued to treat them as pieces of equipment and would have changed its its outlook on them. Seeing that for some reason the AGI decided to do to revise more its consideration with the PONI's in it's interactions is a sept in the right direction to build up bridges of 'friendship' between them especially sense they saved it under their own initiative . Still, I am superseded that the AGI didn't prepare a counter- measures with the other drones AI to come up with a solutions to resolve the mistake.
8598052 The drones literally don't have the ability to see a problem like what happened and develop a solution. The biggest problem here was that the storage was offline. While the storage contains the raw code and information of the various core AIs (AGI and OI-AI in this case) as well as all the designs and blueprints that might be needed. Had the drone had access to that storage, it might have been able to form a solution.
Will they ever be using their "most important parts"? Why those were saved in the first place? Isn't it a little impossible for them by now? I mean, you know, there are a lot more than just a "replication function" — there are a quite complex organism around those organs keeping them alive and usable. What about natural "repair tools"? Stem cells? Both PONI now lack any of it, aren't they? How AGI will handle an inevitable "organic node" degradation?
8599688 Well, let's look at a brain. Established brain cells don't die naturally. There are three ways they can die:
1) as new cells travel to their eventual (and final) destination in the brain
2) through trauma to the head
3) through disease
1 literally doesn't matter, 2 is now almost impossible (and can be made more so), and 3 is always either through something breaking down the brain-blood barrier, or some nasty thing getting past it.
As for their reproductive organs, they are being fed oxygenated blood-like fluids, as well as the same slurry of sugars that are keeping the brain alive. There are plenty of stem cells in such organs (even in the brain), the only real risk in both cases is that such cells might go cancerous.
And here I thought that only source for stem cells is bone marrow...
There at least one more reason for any cell to die — time. Sadly it affects all materials, including organic ones. All cells in the organism are not just a bunch of atoms, it's a complex structure with many parts that interacting with each other through biochemistry. And there are not such thing as ideal structure. Errors tend to happen. Many diseases arised when most people started to live past 60-70 years, so it's not just a matter of breaching some kind of bioligical barrier.
8601477 I've done a fair bit of researching into this. The causes of brain cell (neuron) death are: trauma, migration (cells moving from the stem cells in the brain to their destination), differentiation (the neural cells are not actually fully formed even when they reach their destination, and will have to develop further in situ. This process can fail), and finally they can die due to disease.
The last one is about the only thing that PONI are subject to, and what causes such deaths is almost always chemicals produced inside the brain (outside pathogens can do this too, of course, but PONI are fine to ignore such because there aren't any). Normally such chemicals are kept local to the brain by the blood-brain barrier (keeps a lot of nasties out of the brain, too), but PONI don't have a blood-brain barrier anymore, and the AGI built its pumps to have wonderful filters.
Aww
Oh? Do we have a timeframe? Nice.
