This doesn't really have an ending...
The next-to-last scene is an ending. I thought about moving the 'bonus scene' to a separate chapter but I felt it was too short for that to really make sense.
Not everything is resolved, of course, but that's life. Even a few episodes end like that (Amending Fences comes to mind). Some things have been settled, but not everything.
Also I didn't want to contradict the show, at least not for this story.

Yeah, I realize that. I really struggled figuring out an ending: I hit a wall at the end partly because that's where the episode ended. I thought about going further, but I didn't want to be immediately contradicted by the next season of the show. If they do another episode with Starlight and Sunburst (as they almost certainly will), I'll definitely shipify it, but in the meantime... I dunno. I've got some stories in the works and I might work elements of this into the background. Gotta finish a youtube analysis video before any of that, though. :P

i really enjoyed this fic! i found myself nodding along like "yep i thought that exact same thing during the episode, and that, and that..." i think youve got starlight's inner voice down pat, and both maud and trixie had some great one-liners. everyone seemed in character too, so good job there. i kind of expected twilight to freak out a bit more at the mention of romance and genitalia, but her going into 'medical explination mode' also works, ie her being too focused on a nitpicky detail to get the sexual implication.

This was cute. But honestly, it just feels unfinished and a little disappointing. I mean we found out what he was hiding, but the events just led down such a heavy path...

Yeah my goal was to make it fit within the episode structure, but a side-effect of this was it winding up a bit constrained. Were I a better author I could probably have made both ideas work simultaneously, but as it was I couldn't stick the landing without violating canon. I'm also bad at endings to begin with, but that's another story.
I also had no idea what Maude's story would actually be at the time. I have a bit of an inkling now, but a lot of time has passed and we've gotten a canonical Maude relationship, so the context would be different.
