This story is a sequel to Apple to the Core
Photo Finish is one of the greatest racers in Equestria, and no race is bigger than the Running of the Leavessponsored by Iron Will Industries, with Rarity being msot excited for this. Applejack is less than thrilled, but whether she wants to or not, she's going to find herself competing as well, alongside Twilight, Big Mac and even Little Strongheart.
Complicating matters, however, Rotten Bad Apple, Applejack's criminal uncle, and the Bad Apple family, who all want revenge for the events that transpired at Appleoosa. Even if they must disrupt the Running of the Leaves, they're going to get even with the Apple family....and anyone associated with them.

Sorry I took a while to getting around to review this. Nothing to blame for that except self-admitted laziness. Anyway, excellent job on the exchanges, characterizations and future chapter set-up in all the right places. I particularly liked the "prison break" scene. The argument between Rotten and that Small Name Big Ego unicorn criminal was priceless. :-D
And, yeah, I'll certainly be looking forward to more of this, but will also respect the need for patience.

Hey there. Splendid job on this latest chapter. It may have taken a while, but it was well worth the wait. The exchanges, characterizations and future chapter set-up were all well done in all the right places. I particularly liked your depiction of Iron Will (actually makes sense for him all things considered being a more successful business-minotaur here than in canon) and Trixie's panic attack-based fire magic discharge . And I have a hunch Granny is going to epically regretting her letting Rotten sucker her so easily .
And yeah, I'll very certainly be looking forward to more of this.

I was more basing that on the outcome. As far as we know so far she has two kids and they're both awful. I'm honestly not convinced Rotten is the worse pony here in spite of all the damage he's done because he's clearly much more capable and motivated than his sister.

well you may have a point, though Rotten is the only one who actually committed crimes and actually broke the law, he's just...less of a jerkass than his sister and brother in law. its one of those weird grey areas, I think.

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm talking about. I doubt he would have felt the need to commit those crimes if the rest of the family didn't treat him like crap, and I don't think his sister would have been nearly as successful at breaking the law if their positions were reversed because she can't make all the weapons and gadgets that let him be effective. That said, he was ultimately the one who did it which isn't something you can ignore which is why we're left with that grey area.
Also, if the Bad Apple branch started with him since Granny Smith is his mother, how are there more of them than him and his kids? I suppose spouses for his kids could add a bit to that, but there's no indication they're married and it would only bring in a couple of other ponies if they were.

the other Bad Apples aren;t directly related to Rotten and his family, they just have a similarish treatment as Rotten's group. Bad Apples are basically just a bunch of Apple Family members who are either disliked by the rest of the family for one reason or naother, agree with Rotten in some way or in general have a similar...outlook as Rotten did, for example Bluegrass in Dodge Junction. I'll try and explain this in story once I continue of course, but this is the basic explanation.

Ah, that makes sense, although it does raise questions about why Deep Roots didn't do anything about it sooner. I kind of passed it off as him acknowledging that Rotten is just a bad pony and the rest of the family interpreting it to support their worldview, but with other ponies on board it seems highly unlikely they're all jerks, especially with how things were going between him and Twilight before he blew everything up.

deep roots doesn't directly interfere in family dynamics all too often unless certain members are being really, really nasty and being really, really stupid, and he's not omniscient its possible he doesn't know how wide spread the issues with the Apples and the 'Bad Apples' has been getting, and if he does he likely only gonna step in once it gets really seriously bad. It's really only with ROtten's family that it's partiuclarly bad since...well, we've seen what happens when you piss him off.
on the other hand its very likely I didn't think all this out too deeply beforehand and am jsut now trying to cover my butt now someone's called me out on it XP
