Skirts introduced me to M*A*S*H earlier this year, just after I'd lost my high-school friends and was out of work. You'd think being locked away in your room for months would be fantastic, but give it a few weeks, and it becomes anything but. The isolation drives you to petty thoughts, never ceasing guilt about never leaving your room, and overall fear of what lurks on the other side of the door.

M*A*S*H stripped me from that world and brought me to a camp in the 70s. Never before had I seen such phenomenal writing, characters that each had relateable aspects, and continuous episodes that kept the same location for elven seasons surprisingly fresh. My solitude never affected me while I watched the show as I always had present company, and you couldn't imagine my relief when character back then grappled with the things I struggle with today.

If I may, don't read this fic. Go and watch the show. It will infinitely more worth your time. This is but a poorly written fic that takes inspiration from the show but never really fleshes out its own world or characters. If school and other obligations were not slowly coming, then I would have like to have done more drafts, but as it stands, this is thanks to the show as well as helping me close my feelings on my high school days.

Blargh. I need to shave in more places than one.

Ah M.A.S.H, i came across it (and Hogan's Heroes )in the early 2000's when i was still a kid pretty much. Was a fun experience.

Is it sad that I remember watching the final episode when it first aired in like '83?

What an emotional story loaded with tons of feels. Extremely impressive to see what you were able to do in just 5,000 words.

High School graduation is definitely a tough time. You say you'll keep in touch but seldom does it stay true. You may try and some friends may stay together like they did in school but it is not the same. They all drift gradually away until it is a letter here or a phone call there until it is just memories. Special memories that are exclusive to those times when all were united for the common cause of getting through High School.

Thanks for writing this as, honestly, I've experienced such a drift. They will all still be my friends and I will remember those who caused me trauma. However its the past and where it will stay in the most positive of lights.

It's not. It means you were alive during a wonderful time.

This hits way to close to home, despite me not having graduated yet. Have a like and fave.

Thank you.

Great story except for one tiny detail. Tiara is an earth pony. That said, it's hard to believe that this coming Wednesday marks the 35th anniversary of one of my favorite TV episodes.

Very good I loved this and the reference to M*A*S*H I loved that show so good sir I award you with 10/10 mustaches and a outro

Watching the first episode of the fourth episode when your comment came up. Made me giggle.

Cheers for the praise, mate.

A good exploration of how intimate and intricate friendship can be from three different angles: a proud mentor, a partner in crime, and a rival. Definitely could use some polish, and maybe some stretching to let the relationships sink in more, but it's more than suitable for what it is.

Also, this:

"Some ponies wear capes," Sweetie said.

"But we wear our egos," Scootaloo finished.

This is such a great line, and should be the motto of rogues and mischievous heroes everywhere.
