E

With cloud mite fumigation in full swing at her abode, Rainbow Dash finds herself with nowhere to go for a few days. Enter Fluttershy, Dash's dear old friend in wings, who opens her home and couch for much needed crash space.

On a mild spring morning and with a tummy full of Prench toast, Rainbow Dash spies a little corner of her friend's house she's never seen before. Therein lies The Mourning Nook - the place where Fluttershy cleanses herself in order to soldier on.

Bravery is about more than withstanding the Great Dragon Migration.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. Much as the content of the story itself, if it spoke to one pony, then it did it's job

I'm glad I waited until now to read this. I had the time to properly read, understand and digest every word. It truly is a wonderful story. Thank you for sharing it

Thank you for that, too.

Your headcanon of Fluttershy, and mine are the same caliber. I do enjoy bitersweet Fluttershy stories, and you craft them well. :moustache:

Flutters is my best pony. And she ended up that way because of writing for her :yay:

Okay...so this story deserves about 50 times the likes and views it has. This is the Fluttershy I've always imagined. She's shy and timid, sweet and gentle. However, under that soft velvet exterior is a core stronger than steel. She keeps going, keeps caring, keeps trying, no matter how much it hurts, because it's worth it. For all her fear, she's never backed down when someone, pony or animal, needs her.

Bravery is the ability to do what you must in spite of fear, and by this reasoning, Fluttershy is the bravest pony of the entire cast.

Well said, and I echo the sentiment. Being shy is one thing, a very hard thing to change about yourself (well I know), but allowing yourself to be shy in the first place is also bravery.

I shared your comment with my Discord group, thanks :pinkiehappy:

Oh, this was just lovely. What a great characterization of Fluttershy, you really got to the core of her character here. The usage of Rainbow Dash to contrast with her was also particularly inspired.

I very much enjoyed writing this, and I'm glad you enjoyed reading it!

It's always a joy to discover another "Fluttershy deals with death" fic, and this one is wonderful. It's such an intriguing part of her character, one that logically must be there but could not be explored much in canon, for obvious reasons. More than that though, I like how many sides of Fluttershy you've worked into the story: her thoughtfulness, her quiet wisdom, her "bad lying" when put on the spot, even some light snark (the comment about RD kicking the dragon), all aided by the fact that she's interacting with a close friend who can bring those sides out.

Apologies for the extremely slow reply. Fluttershy is by far my favorite MLP character, and I for one, while sharing some of her personality traits, am well aware how much more there can be. So I wanted to reflect that. Glad you enjoyed the story!

That was a good story.
