From Season 7 Episode 9 - Honest Apple, we see Rarity play the guitar after being offered a try by Pinkie Pie. Surprisingly enough, she managed to play some metal, which no fan of the show was
expecting.

Surely, that particular genre of music doesn't suit a lady like Rarity, does it? When Pinkie asks her how she knows how to play, her answer is nothing less than shocking. Perhaps Rarity has two talents?

FEATURED MONDAY, 7TH AUGUST! Wow, thank you so much, peeps!

:duck: Spikey plays the banjo guitar and piano
:pinkiehappy: and I play everything else!
:derpytongue2: and I play the radio
:moustache: and Twilight she just plays a book,,,

nice:trollestia:

... I mean, her cutie mark IS technically rocks...

I sort of want to see this line of thought continue. How does Rarity explain this to Sweetie, let alone her other friends? Does her calling come-a-knocking back, now that she gave it a chance? Anyway, great lil story :)

More please! I could see some of Rarity's old band (assuming she was in one) mates coming to Ponyville looking to hook up for a concert.

Raities old band was Soichet(?) and the Banshees?:duck:

Oh Pinkie, just don't question it.
When in doubt just say "That's Rarity being Rarity." It saves you headaches.

I want one.

Awesome one shot. Who would have thought Rarity wanted to be a rock star! I could totally picture Rarity rocking with that awesome guitar in Carroussel Boutique. Good job

" Even by Pinkie's standards, what had just happened was benign. "

I suspect you were looking for a different word at the end there.

Rarity was busy with this song.

Also, I think she would be a fan of metal. She'd enjoy the Doom Soundtrack.

Ah, I see what you did there. :ajsmug:

Also, I feel like this should be followed up by Maud turning up at Rarity's door.

"I wanna rock."

Rarity is my favorite pony, and I'm a guitar player! I was so proud when I saw her play like that on the show!:raritystarry::raritywink:

Know it isn't the most original but I just couldn't resist. :twilightblush:

You had a nice opening. And then it fell flat on its face. It got back up, but by then the damage was done.

If Rainbow didn't do a Sonic Rainboom, Rarity could've been a Rock n' Roll Star.

Rarity: It's very simple, Pinkie. The naked ape gods who write our fates decreed I would be able to do so. :raritystarry:

Pinkie: :pinkiegasp: OMYGOSH, RARITY!! You know about them TOO?! :pinkiecrazy:

Twilight makes a beeline for Town Hall to get the paperwork to have them both committed. :twilightoops:

:trollestia:

Wow, this is probably better than my fic I wrote inspired by that scene, writing-quality-wise at least.

Even if mine was the first on this site...

pls do a continue.

Seriously though, this needs an extension of Rarity, under the nagging of Sweetie Belle, becoming a rockstar, possibly under a disguise of some sort! It is such a good idea!

No, I'm going to leave it as it is. It's not like I haven't thought about it, but I feel the story is good enough as it is on its own merits.

This was pretty good, although it felt a little padded toward the end. Pinkie's reactions and Rarity's explanations were a bit repetitive. Like this line:

Rarity was a lady, but a rockstar was the polar opposite of the pony she was in the presence of.

Um, yeah, you already said this was the last thing you expected:

''But it's so not like you! Rarity, I'm full of surprises and all, but that was crazy, even by my standards! It just doesn't seem like something I can picture you doing!''

Still, your headcanon about Rarity taking guitar lessons in Canterlot does make sense. It even explains how she picked up her "high-class" accent, since no one else in her family talks the way she does.

8351671
True, but it is such a good concept.

Short and cute.

Oh Come on man you had a golden opportunity to have Rarity yell "THANK YOU PONYVILE, GOODNIGHT!" Before smashing the guitar. Come one it would have been awesome.

8351671
Would you be willing to allow another to write an unofficial continuation then perhaps?

sweet short story :)

This is a very good one-shot.

8352456
Honestly, no, I don't think that would be a good idea. Not like I haven't thought about it, but I don't really want any kind of continuation of the story.

I just don't find it to be necessary.

Good one-shot. After all, her cutie mark already "rocks" :trollestia:

TDR

8350438 Her old band?
Was Pontera? Or was it Manetalica?

I bet she was playing this:

Dang it, I really want more. I didn't know I wanted this, but now I know.

I want this.

This story demands a continuation, in which Rarity is confronted between the choices in her life leading up to where she is now, and the misunderstanding of her own Cutie Mark. All accompanied by epic metal, where normally the music of harmony would take over, and a completely wild, out of control fashionista and her Tartarus blessed guitar. Equestria will never be the same again.

What happens when Pinkie breaks a Pinkie Promise?
:pinkiesmile::pinkiesmile::pinkiesmile::pinkiesmile::pinkiesmile:
(The Mirror Pool clones come and take me away> :pinkiecrazy:

My reaction to seeing that:

An interesting premise that you do absolutely nothing with.

This felt really shallow. Like, the first half of the story basically doesn’t matter, and then when it gets to the part that does matter, which is a simply fascinating corollary of the very idea of cutie marks, it’s over in a couple of sentences. There is so much more that could be done with this idea it’s honestly a little baffling that you feel like this story doesn’t need an expansion. And maybe it doesn’t; it seems like Rarity’s basically content with herself, so I guess I can see why adding more onto the end wouldn’t do much. But the idea behind this story, that concept that got summarized in a handful of sentences, could have so much more depth to it. I think you could write an entire story just about those three sentences Rarity said, and it feels like a missed opportunity.

8355166
The point of this was only a scene expansion from what was seen in the episode. It was originally going to be 1000 words or so, but I went a little more ambitious with it.

I truly don't want to write an extension to what I've put down here, but that doesn't necessarily mean I won't ever write a sequel. Besides, this was uploaded two days ago, so a follow-up in a short gap of time can't really be expected.

This was hilariously awesome!

YOU DO HAVE MORE! YAY! :yay: I do indeed like your stories! I'm gonna find more!

A really fun story. Nice job.

Thanks a bunch! Sorry I didn't see this message sooner. Love your work, by the way, Flutterpriest. :twilightblush:

Here's what she was probably singing
