Based on Robert Louis Stevenson's The Black Arrow.
During the War of the Sun and Moon in medieval Equestria, young Spike, a knight in training, doesn't know who he can trust when a band of outlaws accuse his guardian, Lord Tirek, of being responsible for his father's death. His suspicions grow when he meets a young colt who claims to have been kidnapped by Tirek. Soon Spike will have to choose between his duty to his guardian and his duty to his heart.

The thing with the arrow is interesting. Though, I wonder what'll happen. What is Spike's role in Tirek's plans? Will Fluttershy be threatened as well (seeing as how she's probably Discord's wife)?

I like how Scorpan specifically said that he didn't hurt Spikes father. Which basically means Tirek did it.
I get the feeling that Scorpan was more of Spike's father-figure than Tirek, but I haven't read The Black Arrow.
I do wonder, where are the rest of the mane6, I am assuming Twilight is in Celestia's court, and Rainbow Dash and Pinkie (Pinkamena) are in Celestia's forces.
I should have read this before making my comment on the last chapter... I am guessing Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie are also part of the same society... wouldn't surprise me if Rarity and Fluttershy are also members... although the spell specified ponies would be turned to stone, last I checked Discord is a draconequus, Tirek is a centaur and Scorpon is a gargoyle... so given the established wording of the magic in and the fact that Tirek lied about Spike's father's death, will the Lavender Arrows actually kill the other three?

If you mean the author's note, the "any pony" was a force of habit, but the actual story doesn't say the spell only works on ponies.

But how Spike's world will shatter when he learns the truth... to be honest, while I don't want Discord to go the way as Gladmane, that's more because of Fluttershy, but the only one I know I will mourn their death is Scorpan... Well, all we can do now is wait and see.
This is really shaping up quite nicely! The only complaint I have is that the story could use a tad more padding. Let the scenes linger a bit more. They feel clipped and brisk! Otherwise I'm always elated to see this updated! Cannot wait to see spike expression when he finds out the truth!

Wait, wait I find that unbelievable, I understand ponies will want to join the night, they like the night or loyalty to Luna. But why would farmers want to join Luna? I mean farmers need the sun to grow crops. So what would the Pear family gain by being on Luna's side unless she guaranteed to grow their crops better somehow.
