Some of the implications are rather displeasing, and the tonal shift at the end is quite abrupt, but the punchline still makes this work to a surprising degree. Plus, the parts written from a canine persoective are quite well done.
Still, given what we've seen of Gummy's thought process, I can only imagine what he thinks of this situation.

I'm not sure I get all of the end but I get enough of it. I'm all for Gummy and Winona. And for a short while I was for Big Mac and Winona, until Lesson Zero. A fun story no matter what.
